Don't feel bad if a miata is chasing you down. I have run several High Performance Drivers Events (HPDE) at VIR in Virginia and the miatas are always fast. Some of those guys have superchargers, turbos, and even rotaries in their miatas.

damn right. check out my miata (www.plainmiata.com) debating on wether to sell it for a fd or go turbo. Anyone have any opinions?

I had some fun yesterday also. I managed to drop my time down another 0.5secs from 6months ago. I was 2nd fastest on the track (with E36 M3), 0.6sec off the E46 M3. I was driving on 3 years old SP9000, so the grip wasnt the most excellent, but I had a lot of fun nonetheless. Did about 40laps and burnt 3/4 of the tank

Here's me and my girlfriend with Rex waiting in the line for takeoff

Rex at the limit of grip at corner exit, setting up for the next right-hander (I really need some new rubber, this set doesnt want to wear off, lol ):

Blasting from the last corner down the start/finish straight:

Cruiser:

I can't believe they let you run an event with

a)the sunroof open

b) windows partially rolled down.

Neither is safe. You should run the car with the sunroof closed and both windows down. Looks like you had fun though!

TTB:

What is it with Thill and rain? I'm glad it didn't rain when we were both there in December. Cool pics!

Rynberg: Well... its not an officially sanctioned event. Two friends rent a track and we time our laps, that's it. No special instructions regarding sunroofs, windows, etc...

And its hot on the track, and I refuse to use AC
I dont see that as a problem, do you ?

Track is a small track, called Mobikrog in Slovenia. Its about 2km long, and my PB is 1:13.9sec.

Some more pics:

Great pics ttb and cruiser. Nice wheel you got their cruiser. So were you the only rotary at the event?

Tuned Audi RS2, with over 500hp. Ugly as hell IMO, but god it accelerates

A beautiful M3 cabrio with hardtop, with same best time as me:

A nice stretch infront of the track:

Enjoy !

Thanks! I installed that wheel few weeks back. It was great on the track. I had to give it full opposite lock twice to rescue spin and drifted out of the corner like a pro With stock wheel and my 6' figure I would've spun for sure.

Yes. There are only 2 FDs in the country.
Other one is being rebuilt atm.

We were dead even up to about 120mph (we did a rolling start from about 30mph in 2nd gear). I was running 12psi with quite heatsoaked IC due to tracking and then setting for some time. He was running 1.1bar I think with JWT ECU and some other mods (intake, exhaust). He is around 400hp.

If I ran 13psi and with cool intercooler, I could probably take him, but I dont want to risk an engine for fun racing.

Damn, I missed that one -- that's even worse!

Yes, I do. It's dangerous and you definitely should be wearing a helmet. Does the track have any response team (ambulance, etc)? Tracking the car can be dangerous work and there's no way in hell I would do it without a helmet, at the very least.

That sounds cool that a group of you are just renting out the track for the day, but be safe out there. We want to see more track pics in the future!

No, there's no response team.
Yes, it is kind of dangerous, but until something bad happens its going to be like that.

It's the only track in the country, and its tight enough so that even less-powered cars can run competitive times.

Top speed is about 100mph.

Another one, just before start/finish straight, in a long lefthander and at full acceleration in 3rd gear (too slippery for 2nd):
