I think if I was a lucky SOB, like the SOB who started this thread, that has a dedicated track car, the GTC nose would be the one I'd get. Have you ever had it bottom out and crack at the track?

Looks great Damien. One advantage of having these long mid-west winters eh.
Looking forward to seeing you run again this season at MAM.
BTW, I was talking with a doctor down here whose a member of the local PCA. We were talking cars, and when I told him what I drove he quickly mentioned your car, remembering it from an open track day. So it does make an impression.

Jim

LOL, I was afraid you were going to ask me that. I met him at a fund raiser dinner and can't remember his name. We sat at the same table, name badges et al, but... I think I'll remember him if I see him, and I may take some lessons this year through the PCA , so I might run into him again. Sorry.
I may have another name for you though from the PCA. I'll do some checking and PM you.

Jim

I cant remember the exact amount you need and it was different for both my cars since the track car has a larger radiator (street has stock radiator), but I would get a minimum of 3 and suggest getting 4. The reason is that you want to have extra in case of an emergency since you cant just put normal coolant in there once the evans is in. Or if you ever have to drain the system, you can still capture the stuff and reuse it, but you may spill some here and there and need some extra to top it off. I also suggest cleaning out an old oil oil bottle or somthing and fill it with evens and keep it in your car, so if your on the road and somthing happens (leaky coolant hose or somthing) you can try and fix the leak and top off the coolant.

First, the car looks outstanding Damian. I can't wait to hear how the new equipment works out.

I just switched my car and with the MazdaComp (Ron Davis) radiator and no AST, it took more than 2.5 and less than 3 gallons. I suggest buying a case of 4 gallons minimum. I bought 2 cases just in, um, case.

In a pinch, I think you can put some pure (no water) Sierra coolant in the car, as it is compatible with the NPG+.

Max,
What's your thought on Evans coolant? I used it a couple of years ago and my car ran hotter so when the engine died I just went back to regular.
Thanks,
Fritz

Car looks great Damían, two quick questions, how did you attach the FAL window to the hatch and where did you source the T for your ABS removal?

FAL attachment
I used a tube of black silicone to seal all around the edge, then I drilled holes and used 6 bolts with washers as a security measure to make sure the thing dosnt fly off on the track at high speed.

I removed all of the rear hatch latch and locking mechanism, its now held down by 2 hoodpins.

The abs removal T, I found that at a local NAPA auto store.

Thanks,

So far it is working great, but I have just been breaking in the new engine and not really pushing it much. And I haven't been to the track yet. My temps are in the low 170Fs when cruising, and in the high 170Fs when putzing around town in traffic. My water temp gauge is holding a peak of 185F, but I don't remember the conditions under which that temp occurred. I have a few holes in the thermostat (for more flow) and I have the PowerFC fan settings set to 87,88,89C to run the fans when it starts to get hot at all. I am running a stock main pulley, SR underdrive WP and alt pulleys (for maximum belt contact with a decent amount of flow), and I have a custom FMIC with the AC condensor (I think that's the right term -- the rad-looking heat exchanger AC component) and MazdaComp radiator behind it, all ducted together very well with the stock fans in back. No AST (couldn't find an easy place to mount it, and I think it may be less useful with the radiator mounted more vertically than stock). I've also got an oil-only turbo, CWR dual oil coolers, ceramic coated rotor faces, and some water-jacket-mod surface area increase in the rotor housings. My aftermarket gauge sensor is in the stock gauge sensor location (rear side housing by the oil pressure sensor).

I'll be at high desert tracks in the summer (which used to make my normally-cool-running car overheat) to see how it does under extreme conditions. I'm hopeful, but realistically a bit pessimistic about how it will work there.

Is it metric and do you have the part number handy?
