tps ?

hey guys i was reading about damian's post about adjusting the tps so i can smooth out the idle and eliminate the backfiring

well my questions is when i go try to get figures from the 2 wires, i get values of 4.72-4.89 when the butterflies are closed all the way ( meaning its thinkin that its wide open when the butterflies are closed)

i have a pfc and when i look on the sensor's page it was saying that vtal1 is not correct

oh i noticed that when i reinstalling the tps it feels like the linkage is not in direct connected with the tps (feels looose, not grabbing)

is there any think that goes in between of the tps and where it mounts???

do i need a new tps????

thanx
mike

OK, did you remove the tps all together, I mean out of the UIM? When I adjusted mine I only loosened the screws to twist it some but didn't completely remove it. It's also weird that your voltage readings are backwards - or so it sounds. Q; did you warm up your car first to see what the closed numbers were and the full open numbers? If you had readings like that for closed what were they when open? More info and maybe we can help more. Also, get a copy or view the parts catalog for the tps and it will show you all the parts you need for installation. I guess I'm wondering why you would pull it out anyway or maybe I'm reading you post wrong.

So you get the same voltage in both closed and wide open? Any change on your commander? There is a good chance then you didn't re-install correctly. I would try installing again to make sure you didn't miss something. When I did my UIM I didn't get that detailed and just worked around those things. Otherwise, I can't think of anything else. Does it run rough, high idle right now? I hope the UIM looks good though (for your troubles) but I'm sure it does.
