Probably not my mom since she is deceased.

So you hit a bump, and rolled your car 1.75 times. Nice explanation.

Someone just posted about buying rear quaters of the car. Someone (another) said it costs around 350 per side. So, if you need those two w/ two fenders, which would be around 130 each...how much? 1000 bucks. Hood? Try buying from FS section. Rear glass, I don't know about this one. But, with all the parts, it might be around 2000. You HAVE to put fenders in yourself, but the rear quaters, you have to hire someone....cheap. I have seen someone put in rear quater for around 6-700 buck each side.

After all that, you get it all painted by Maaco. Just don't get the very cheap one. Try to see if there is any coupon or special before you tell them to paint. So, I guess the total might be around 5000 bucks. have another 1000 to spare just in case. And, take a muta frinckin time to do this. It might be 6 months before you will get the car running again, but that's another way to save the car and money.

POM HB.

PS. I'm no expert, but have the idea on this topic as I witness it was done before...not exactly, but pretty much close.

Re: Is it totalled?

Mmm...the damage don't look too bad . I would check to see if the body was twisted from the crash and than work from there . If it ain't that bad , swap the fenders and front spoiler and body work. if not the other way is to get a donor body and swap over your parts from the 7 since your engine still runs .

Whatever you choose, my condolences to you and your poor 7.

For reference, my State Farm insurance allowed me ~ $10k for repairs when my little incident happened. Find a cheap body/paint shop man.

First off if your even going to fix the car please do it right. Dont go to Maaco, you get what you pay for and it really shows at that establishment. Secondly, you walked away with no lifelong injuries so consider yourself lucky to walk away from something like that. Third, the car can be replaced if its totalled.

Before going any further the first thing you should do would be to put the car on an alignment rack and truely see if the frame is bent. Then make your decision on whether or not to fix it. At least then you know what you will be getting into. Good luck with what ever you choose.

Part it out... Unless you have the money to fix it the RIGHT way.

The insurance company is going to tatal the car.. Ask turbojeff about repairing it. He knows the deal.

Good luck.

The pic looks pretty bad... Anything is repairable, but again, the car looks pretty mangled up and I wouldn't trust chassis the way it looks. As Slim 7 saids RIP it I I were you.

What's Ins Co.'s settlement $$. And get yourself another one. And this time, keep in mind the power of "7".

At least you are OK.

The front of the car is REALLY expensive to fix, the rest isn't that bad. It IS fixable judging from the pics.

Truly sorry to hear about your mishap. If it makes you feel better in any way, Im 8 grand into my car on top of its purchase price, with a new motor, and I've had nothing but problems. Even when I bought the car, I drove it for 800 miles before it went. Its like I have never even driven the car. Its like paying rent for a place I don't live in or something...Very unsatisfying to say the least. It's a finicky car to own, to drive, and to maintain. Guess thats supposed to be half the fun of it sometimes though. <Fortune Cookie BS. Keep ur spirits high, and good luck with it whether you decide to fix it, or go another route.

And Adam C, poor you. Did he hit a soft spot with ur mom being deceased? Mine is too pal, but that has no legitimacy for doggin the poor kid, nor is it adequate defense for his retort to your poorly chosen words.

You might want to get to a salvage yard and see how much the entire suspension for the front and rear right will cost, then get a price for new bushings (all around) from Mazda. I think this is where your real cost will come in.

This makes me ill. I can't believe someone let a 17 year old buy an fd. I had a vw rabbit with 90hp at that age. If i wrecked it no big deal. These cars are too rare for this ****.

Might as well get used to it. Seems about once a week now we get a post from 'Joe Schmoe 16 year old' about how they totaled their FD. Ah well, the more that are wrecked, the more ours are worth.

I had a civic with 105 hp (at best) for 1.5 years while I worked my *** off for my car. Then I wrecked it, and now I realize that I really didn't know how to control it in all situations. Don't worry, if it makes you feel any better, the next time I own/drive a 7 will probably be when they are antiques. (Unless by some stroke of God, this one isn't totalled.) Until then, I'll still admire them, and just know that they are not to be taken lightly. As for if it is totalled, how do I get it back so that i can part it or fix it?

You get the money from the insurance company for the settlement, and then use that to buy the wreck back.

redneck: bad wreck, glad you're ok. adamc is a good source of insurance info and what to do, although he is a huge pr*ck. might not help after the "yo mamma" comment. (DAMN mama jokes are still around, huh?). Hey adamc, there is some more insurance misinformation you need to address here: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...5&pagenumber=1
more dumbsh*ts like me that think insurance pr*cks like you only pay NADA or blue book for totalled cars...just thought I'd help validate your existence. Have a good one!

Hey Redneck, first off I am glad you are alright. It sucks when anyone wrecks an FD, and I think some of us (me included) get more upset when kids wreck them because many of us didn't have the means to own them when we were younger. I am glad now that I wasn't in a position to own an FD before I was 27, but **** if I had the chance at 17 to have one, I know I would have. And how many of us were mature at that age to know we weren't ready for an FD?
Anyway if you manage to purchase the car from the insurance company and don't fix it, please PM as I need a few interior parts and maybe could buy a few other things as well. Good luck.

Find Quotes for cars that had the same milage and were in similar condition on e-bay and auto trader, then, use that as ammo to raise the value of the car past what you paid (Hopefully) and then ask the insurance company that you want to buy the car back, they'll ask for 7-10% of the payout, so $1700 - $2000 usually, for a $20K car... then buy it back and part it out or, transplant or, repair... but that way you have time to look at your options....

thank you. Thats what I was looking for, a percent of the value that they would charge. I have $11,900 in the car right now. I'm sure I can get more out of it than that. My friends dad had already said to find a bunch of comparable ones for sale and be ready with those when it comes time to settle. (And somehow, he's 45 and wrecked his Vette, which is how he knew this.) <that comment doesn't serve as an excuse for me wrecking and still stand firm that I the FD was too much car for me being as inexperienced as I am. I just don't like that no one ever seems to jump on older people who wreck. I deserve it, so do they. My friends dad was ******* around in his 2000 Vette, doing a burnout and it caught traction and drove through his neighbors shed...no one said **** to him and I wreck mine and 400 people online and off-line say "I told you so" when i was doing the speed limit and just screwed up... just gets old. I know I was wrong. I'm just looking for info on what to do now that I screwed up, not a whole bunch of I told ya sos.
ryan.
