Topping of Coolant

I have been having problems with my coolant, i burp it every morning and have added a bit of coolant so it would be 1/4 from the top. Few weeks later after burping it every few days teh coolant is now down to the bottom of the coolant fill container close to to engine.

WHen i check the coolant to see if its full I usually check in the overflow tank close to the front of the car on the passenger side. Is this where I should be checking my coolant levels because this has always showed full even when the engine container by the engine is very low... ? Should i add some distilled water to the coolant container over by the engine until it is 1/4 from full ?

The overflow tank is just that, a reservoir for coolant to overflow when the pressures in the cooling system exceed that of the pressure cap. Sounds like either your pressure cap is not sealing, or the line to the overflow tank has a hole in it. When the pressure drops in the cooling system, coolant is drawn back in from the overflow tank.

If that's not it, pressure test it for a leak.

Worst case is it could be a failing coolant seal, but could just as well be the others.

Any chance you flipped your
ast cap with your radiator cap?

Or put a new ast in?

i have the same problem...
i often have to top up coolant under the filler cap becos it keeps DROPPING
but the overflow tank in the corner of the car already remains WAY ABOVE full...

coming to think of it, this started to happen after i put in a new ast, how has this got to do with it?

I've seen new AST's that had imperfections in the lip where the cap seals. You might take a look there, it should be pretty obvious if there is a problem.
