too easy repair

Why is it when a repair gets done without breaking something, dropping a tool into the depths of the engine bay or drawing blood, it just seems too easy- like the FD gremlin is lurking, waiting for you to let your guard down? I just replaced the idler pulley for the AC/ power steering (thanks to Mahjik for the part #) and it took all of five minutes- two bolts on/off and done. I guess I am just used to the typical FD type of repairs that require a box of bandaids and a few new four-letter words.

It's the law of the FD. You are allowed 1 easy repair per 2 pints of blood spilled into the car.

Example:

While double-checking the tightness of the jam-nuts and toe-links on my car after installing new ones I just knew it was going to be a knuckle buster.

Jam-nuts are not known to just release slowly and that's precisely what didn't happen - put a 21 mm box-end wrench right into my wrist bone. It was one of those ********-kick hits where you just have to stop and suffer it while contemplating life for a bit.

I've always found that swearing loudly helps.

I've never heard a description of this situation worded so eloquently!

Can I put this in my sig?

Sure

Ron, "f'ing piece of ****!" definitely occured.

You should have seen me a couple of days ago yelling at a plastic harness to RELEASE.

"What is your f'ing problem?" as I'm talking to a damn inanimate electrical block connector in my garage.

Does anyone else silently flick off their car while walking by while she's down on a repair that should have taken a few hours...that lasted a day or two?

I say F@*K YOU to it after a vacuum job with bleeding knuckles and fingers but afterward I still love it every bit.

I think that swearing at the car and talking to inanimate objects (i.e just f'ing break loose, disconnect, go back in, etc) are vital to automotive repair.
