Tolerances for spark plug wire resistance?

The FSM lists 16 kOmh/meter as the spec for the wires, but doesn't give any tolerance range. I have some wires ranging between 17.8 and 25.1. Is anything over 16 (give or take a few tenths?) not usable?

Thanks, but that doesn't really answer the question. The FSM simply says 16 kOmh/meter and I take it to mean that anything above/below that number should be replaced. But I want to know how high is really too high.

Okay i found it it posted on the ngk website and looks like it will depend on the type of wire . Different wire materials have a diffrent spec range.https://www.ngk.de/en/technology-in-...nition-cables/

Only an undereducated person would replace stock or stock type with stock.
Upgrade to better for more consistent power, and lower cost.

Order Taylor’s ThunderVolt 40 Ohm Ferrite Core Ignition Wires Set from Summit Racing.
Low cost, work great, great quality, they can not be beat for the cost. They are actually better than some very expensive ones like Magnacore..

Magnecor Race Wires

magnacor has interesting writeup on wire resistances.. basically manufacturers measure claim low DC resistance = high performance, when in reality this resistance changes with frequency. your spark is not a DC voltage. a DC measurement gives you some idea of performance, but not the complete picture. IMO your top priority should be minimizing EMI so your not messing with your crank trigger signals

it turns out that one of the older FSM's says anything OVER 16k ohms/meter is bad, and indeed if you bought new wires you would find that they would be in the 7k ohms range.

if you compare the JDM FSM to the US FSM, there is a lot of blank space in the US book...

Most of the ones I had were at around 17.5 to 20.... some were as high as 27. lol.

....Do you have a JDM FSM? Because I can't find one anywhere for free... usually some jerkass on Yahoo Auctions is selling an obviously pirated version.
