TO4E single turbo installed with M2 airbox

Well, the wait is finally over. I got my single turbo install done along with all the custom piping and a modified back plate for my M2 air box to accept the larger single air filter. Here are some pics below but all the full size pics can be viewed at: http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4290619011

Damn that's pretty sweet! Is the original back plate aluminum or c/f?

Thanks .

The original was aluminum too. It was exactly the same, but with 2 smaller pipes that could only accept 2 puny little filters, and some other smaller holes for BOV, smog pump, etc. The below pic was taken when I was complaining to M2 that their plate was not made right; the pipes should have been angled upward to better align with the intake pipes. But instead, they were angled downward .

Good job Tom, I was thinking the same to keep the smog police off my back over my open filter for my Apexi single.

The turbo on it's own??? What do you mean? Without all the piping hiding it from view? If that is your question, I should be removing that stuff this weekend to do some polishing and I could snap some more pics, not a problem.

The intake pipe is actually only 3", as determined by the T04E turbo. I think the T04S is 3.5", and so on, as the turbo gets bigger. I saw this Supra with (what looked like) a 5" inlet!!!

Yeah, it really makes me more comfortable knowing that I'm starting off with a cooler air temp with the box as opposed to gulping the hot under-hood air.

That looks great, Tom. I have been dreaming about a cool air system like that for mine for a while. Nice job!

Now when do I get a ride?

It would be a boring ride though I'm still in the "breaking in" period on my new motor. I've got about 100 more miles to go. But even then, I can't really boost it much because I need to have the PowerFC tuned again; don't wanna blow an apex seal so soon after getting it back. Ray from Redondo Beach is supposed to help me out this weekend.

Trust me, it sucks right now. I had this guy trying to race me (well, he didn't try- he did) on the way home from work tonight in his Infinity G35. Supposedly they are virtually the same car as the Nissan 350Z's. It was brand new, still with paper plates on it, and he got away thinking he actually beat me . Obviously, the whole time I was thinking how I've probably got about 450HP (380RWHP) but I'm limping around like a wounded dog.

I sure hope I run in to that guy again.

Anyway, I'll definitely give you a call when she's all ready to show.

Thumbs up

Tom, nice job. We have the similar set up and I am doing the back lid also to fit my TO4E.
Do you recall the K&N filter part #???
I know it is easy to get but to save me some time.
Thanks

Don't worry. You can read about the kill on the Infinity message boards.

Nice car Tom!

Hehehehe That's pretty funny. Yeah, he probably got home, went straight to his computer, logged in to the Infinity message board and posted "Yep!!! I beat an RX7 tonight. It sounded like it was fast, but it was not even close. IMO, it was just a noize maker. I have no idea why people think those things are so fast. Next time he tries to race a G35, I'm sure he'll think twice".

Tom: Great work. You should make up some more and sell them. I'm sure you would get some buyers.
