Question time for new ecu??/suggestions

ok, here's a list of mods..

-pettit cold-air intake
-racingbeat dual tip cat-back
-pettit underdrive pulleys
-hks ss downpipe
-STOCK ecu
-steering column mounted boost guage

after I installed the dp, I went on a "spirited" drive to test it out, but was too scared to really get into the throttle, because the boost was spiking
(sea level, ~65 degrees F)
it was building steady boost until a little over 10 psi, then would spike to ~14 psi(@ around 4000rpm)

I was planning on swapping out the pills, would this give the (unported) wastegate enough of an advantage to keep the boost @ safe levels?

here's the last dyno run before the dp (hp and af ratio)

Since you upgraded to aftermarket downpipe, exhuast and intake...I think its about time for you to get a new ecu.

is there a mid pipe in the equation anywhere? i never saw any spiking with my set up, using a HF cat from random tech. after a while, i did install an avc-r boost controller. but no spiking......

ecu upgrades are fine. the $ amount that you will NEED to spend on the upgrade is totally dependant on how many more modifications you are planning on adding to the car in the future.

it would be totally fine to add an M2 or a pettit unlimited chip, and be safe up to 14.7 psi. or buy a Pwr FC or other 'stand-alone' unit to 'further' tune the car....

like i said, it is all dependant on your taste for modding the car....

thanks for the opinion, and no there isn't a midpipe (just stock cat), maybe you live in a higher altitude/hotter climate wchich could affect turbo effiency, right?

im still wondering about the pills, anyone have any input?

i live in mississippi. it is 95 degrees here and 100% humidity.......gotsta luv it......

.......boost controller........i ran my black FD with only a boost controller, no ecu on my mods, and the car did fine...that was with intake, DP, hi flow cat, n-tech cat back, and STOCK intercooler, and fuel pump upgrade....

Yes, pills will be sufficient. Boost control on FD's is usually really easy until you lose all the cats. Then a ported wastegate is often necessary to prevent creep. You should be able to tune your boost pattern nice and smooth. And no, there is no need for an ECU unless you want to run more than 10psi. Stay within the stock ECU fuel cut zone and you will be fine.
