Time to Install Stock Twins

How long would it take to replace the stock twins with a different set of twins?

oh!

n.
The persistent conviction that one is or is likely to become ill, often involving symptoms when illness is neither present nor likely, and persisting despite reassurance and medical evidence to the contrary

I don't understand what you mean... my turbos are gone and I need some ASAP, and i'm just thinking about when I can do it and how much of a time i'll have to allow for...

in laymens it generally refers to someone who is always asking questions, believes something is wrong, needs to have something fixed, etc.

P.S. Were you really born in 1986??

Well, we have something in common...Rotary Performance can go **** up a rope from now on. Kinda funny now how two people go there with fine turbos, but when they leave "they will need a rebuild soon"

Not to mention that bastard started ignoring my messages. If that doesn't scream guilty I don't know what does.

i don't want to point fingers... i mean i'm on 105k miles w/ original turbos and he showed me how my turbos were bad when i was driving... i.e. they would come on late or not come on at all... the second works though!

but back to the original question: how long would it take to swap the twins?

I'd say at least 4-6 hours when knowing what you are doing and having the optimal work environment.

sounds like it could be something other than turbos. if its turbos, i believe you would see white smoke on startup and while under boost. also, you would consistently see the same low boost numbers. sound more like vacuum or something else. at least thats my take on it....

budget the day to take it off if you have never done it and another day to put back on. it also depends on whether or not you break any bolts or get them stuck somewhere. then it could take longer depending on what tools you have and your own ability.

when mine came back from RP (and now also the used ones I bought that were supposedly rebuilt ) whenever I went into boost it sound like "kkkkssssshhhhhhhhh" Like someone was throwing sand into the propeller.

No smoke at anytime, just the noise. And now these second pair I notice don't have much boost.

if you have 105K on the original, plan on another engine and turbo.

cost breakdown at minimum:

Malloy engine $2300 plus gasket
labor is $1500
wire harness $600
radiator $500
turbos used from JT import $500
clutch $500

Don't feel bad, it's like owning an airplane, after a certain amount of run time, you replace the engine.

If you've a garage, tools and has taken engine in and out of cars, you can do it yourself. I did, it took me 60 hours over three months in my garage and saved $1500 plus I did it my way.

too lazy to read the thread. Are your first set of turbos off the manifold already? If so, putting the new set back in shouldn't take all that much longer than it took you to take the first set off. Chances are, if you've already removed the first set, you didn't bust any studs on the manifold. So here's your next step....call up Ray at Malloy and order a whole new set of studs & what not. There's no sense in re-using 105k old crappers. Then, install away!!

Heh, well then soak that bastard in liquid wrench for at least 24 hours before getting started. Busting studs inside the manifold can be very detrimental to one's patience and wallet.

I never drive my car in snow or rain, I wipe it with a california duster after every drive and I rarely ever get it wet to wash it... All my bolts and everything else come out just fine...

Sounds like a load or crap...That doesn't mean the turbos are bad..You could have something as simple as a bad check valve or a cut hose or intermittent solenoid...I have seen this problem and fixed it multiple times...I have also seen 110 k turbos that were run hard that still worked just fine...
