Actually, not enough cash to make that deal work! Gonna pick up the inner silencer on Tuesday, pack some steel wool behind it and taking the FD in for another test on the 24th.

It's funny, you guys who were into your cars and the car scene wish you had gone to school and done something "special" with your life... I wish I would of went into the car scene instead of going to college, or at least went pre-med. I should just gone to ITT Tech or DeVry and got something useful ... 4 year university is for :

- people who actually will become Dr's and Lawyers, not just pie in the sky dreamers
- rich people
ha ha You sound just like my friend going to UCR about to get a degree in biology, and I here him complain all the time about how hard organic chemistry is / was. Devry blah, never! I use to go there, its not bad. They actually have very good professors teaching there for the core classes. But employers look down upon your degree when compared to traditional universities. So you get paid about 15 - 20% less than what you would typically get from a degree from a university and Devry cost allot more than a bachelors from a UC or Cal state.

anything aside from an FD shy of $50k is ultimately a let-down

Agreed. Latest offer tally: Possible all cash offer from New Mexico, trade offer of an '03 350z with 88k miles and trade offer of an '04 GTO. Happened to talk to my son today (he's in Paris this week with a buddy. They are traveling in Europe for a month). He said the 350z was OK with him. Trade value on that car with that many miles is about $10,500 so some cash required. The story continues...

I thought a 350Z straight up would be a great trade...but that depends on the condition of your car...must be in nice shape.

Hasta La Vista, Baby! This One Is Sold!!!

Just sold to a fellow Californian for $12,000 cash. It's been fun and all of you who have responded my posts the last 2-1/2 years have been great. Couldn't have done it without you. Take care of those FD's - there aren't many left. This is the best car owner forum out there.

Grats on the sale, hope your son appreciates whatever he's driving now.

After several thousand dollars of mods, repairs (HKS intake, aluminum AST, custom Alpine - ARC Audio dual amp sound system, rear custom amp/subwoofer lighter enclosure, RX-7 store hi-flow cat, HKS Hi-power catback, center speaker pod with boost and water temp gauges, new rear brake calipers, oil pan fix, front cover gasket fix, fan switch mod) the car runs well but still needs the rear pillowball/bushing replacements, a little body work, a paint job but the son is taking off for college in the fall and has never really "bonded" with the car. Didn't ever want to invest time or money. It looks like he wanted a ready to go vehicle rather than one to work on.

From one parent of a teenage son to another, I think your mistake wasn't in buying an FD to begin with, but buying your son a car at all. Kids don't truly appreciate things that are handed to them. He said a 350Z was "OK" with him?! While he is in Paris no less! I'm guessing a post graduation trip that you also paid for during the summer when he should be working his *** off to pay for college.

This past couple of months has been a real eye-opener as a parent. The son is now trying to figure out how to deal with the fact that he now drives a 1986 Toyota Corolla with plaid interior and no air conditioning. You are right about appreciating things that are actually worked for.

Offer them 135, I'm sure they will accept. It takes two secs to bolt in but you have to run the control wire through the shift boot.

My Dad used to call that "developing character". I used to hate it when he said that.

Details on the Corolla...I might be interested if it were a GT-S.

wow, cool little device - i'd be concerned that it could stick closed though...which would probably not end well.
