Tightening the Mirrors?

Besides the two screws, is there any other point to tighten the outside mirrors?

Driver's side is fine, but passenger side, you can move the mirror base Even though both screws seem tight?

Thanks for any insight

You can pop the mirror inward to get to the two external screws. If those are tight, I THINK there are some more fasteners that you can get to from inside if you pull the door panel off. You may also want to remove the two externally accessible screws and see if you can pull off the mirror and if there's more underneath that.

Been a while since I messed with the mirrors but it should be something pretty easy in there.

Based on the title I thought he was asking about the glass mirrors themselves - not the whole housings.

Before I changed my motor mounts my driver's side mirror would vibrate pretty bad when stopoed/idle. That was with stock mounts that had 55k miles on them.

Already changed motor mounts. It's a situation, sitting still where you can "turn" the base of the passenger mirror. Not sure if something "other than" the 2 screws hold this in check.

I've read that replacing the screws with "bolts" makes for a better lock -- not sure if that has anything to do with this though.

Thanks

Not sure what that thread link is but if you remove the mirror there is a hidden screw to tighten the mirror to the base.

I've basically described the same problem that the OP has and a fix I did to a friend's car by switching to a washer and hex bolt with blue locktite.

This actually fixed all my friends' and my FD's mirror vibrating problem.
