Tial wg v-band clamp question
I was wondering if anyone knows if you must use the Tial wastegate inlet v-band clamp or can you use any v-band clamp? The reason I ask is that mine seems to have disappeared when I shipped the car across country... Thanks.

If you can use just any v-band clamp then I'd be surprised. The tial one is hinged.

No... the car is not somewhat apart. Long story short is, car was tuned at the RX7 Store in July 2008, went into storage for two years, was shipped from Ohio to Hawaii in June 2010 (where I now live), and when it showed up it was missing the clamp. I can't believe anyone would "steal" the clamp, so I don't know wtf happened.
I found a few places online that sell them, but was hoping for a local fix so I didn't have to wait a week on shipping. I think I may have found one on the island though. I just have to sweet talk them into letting me buy it and have them wait on shipping of a replacement.

Stupid question, but does the fire ring/valve seat just float between the manifold and wastegate inlet? Put another way, should I see it/be able to move it freely with the wastegate/manifold missing the inlet clamp? I don't think the two will come apart enough to let anything fall out, but I don't know if I'm seeing it down there. How thick is the valve seat? Thanks again.

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, yes it moves freely. Assuming you have the dump pipe plumbed into your exhaust, and it's not a flex pipe, it shouldn't fall out. That ring is nearly a 1/2" thick/tall.

It is a Gotham Racing GR63 kit. Basically, it goes manifold -> wastegate inlet -> wastegate outlet -> flexpipe -> downpipe. So despite the inlet not being attached, the wastegate is still held on by the downpipe. I'm 99% sure it is a flexpipe that runs to the downpipe though (although I'm beginning to doubt myself). I'm concerned that I'm actually missing the valve seat as well. I don't see anything between the flange on the manifold and the inlet flange on the wastegate.

Why? That would be a huge waste of money.
You can buy a valve seat for $36
Just take your WG off and inspect it. ATP sells the parts you need to fix the car. http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant...egory_Code=WGT

That's exactly what I was thinking. No need to buy a new wastegate when avalve seat can be had for $32 shipped. Got the clamp and valve seat on the way... Again, thanks for all the help.

im mixing you and someone else up that was getting deployed. so i thought you didnt have much time to be working on your car, and being in the middle of the ocean it wasnt easy to get parts like here on the mainland. im just wondering why 1/2 of your WG is missing and what else you might find gone when you go to finish the job. this is the story of my entire car, and a lot of them. at some point you may as well just say F it and buy the whole thing. banzai will tell you, on most the cars he builds he says "this is an ESTIMATE" because theres no telling how badly things will be or what is hidden under the hood that needs rebuilt or replaced.

No problem. I'm thinking it must have vibrated off. In reality, it isn't that much of the wastegate. Just a clamp and ring. I've gone over the rest of the car fairly well and it appears that nothing else is missing. The car was well sorted before I put it into storage (with most of the issues known... but everyone knows how that goes). Just a matter of dealing with the small issues and the reality of finding specialty parts in paradise. lol
