Tial or HKS BOV??
Tial or HKS BOV??
Just wondered what any of you think. I need to order one this week and not sure which one is better if either.. Looking at the HKS super sequential and the Tial 50mm. This will be on a single turbo car running 16-18psi for now but see 20+ in the very near future... Thanks

i have the turboxs H-RFL, it is reall loud, i come down my block sometimes and hit like 6.5k in first gear, then drop it in neutral and i coast the rest of the block in neutral, i get to my house and the neighbors are like DAMN, i heard that whoosh sound all the way when you were back there..LOL
I've got the tial and I like it. Unfortunately I only enjoyed it for a day before my engine popped... From what I remember it wasn't too loud. I'm planning on 15psi with the new engine.

HKS BOV and Tial BOV have different designs.
HKS BOV is a pull type BOV. It can hold as much as you want because it's the vacuum from the manifold right after you release the throttle opening up the valve.
The Tial BOV is a push type BOV. How much boost it can hold will depends on the spring it comes with.
Tial BOV has a larger valve so it can vent out more air. HKS BOV is kind of small so it's not really good for big single turbo.
I have used them both and I have found the Tial BOV to be better against compressor surge due to it's larger valve. But if you plan to run a lot of boost, you might want to consider the HKS one.

Therefore, the air pressure on both sides of the valve will be equal. However, the top of the valve also has a spring. The softest spring the TiAL comes with is 7lbs.
Taking the spring into consideration the pressure on the top will =boost+ 7lbs -restriction created by the throttle plates (which should be very low). The pressure on the bottom will still =boost.
Since boost +7lbs is always going to be greater than boost , the valve will not open under any boost level.

I bought it because of its size and the fact that it is relatively quiet. As a side note, you can see the valve slowly opening and closing at idle, kind of like a giant animal breathing in its sleep
