Thoughts on plumbing injectors into the greddy elbow??

What does everyone think about plumbing your injectors into the greddy elbow... Instead of adding them to the top of the manifold.

If i was going to have them plumbed into the top of them manifold.....how much and where.

thanks

It depends on how much boost you are going to run. If you put them on the elbow and you are running high boost numbers, the air tends to blow the fuel more to the rear rotor than the front (possibly blowing the motor).

My dad is currently welding injector bosses into my intake manifold on the 2 center runners near the throttle body like I saw in a RX-7 mag from Japan.

Just a thought but wouldnt the fuel from the elbow injectors be very well mixed with the intake air before it gets to the point where it is split to the rotors? Or does the air flow too quickly for the fuel to be that well vaporized and mixed?

Maybe the rear chamber gets more air (thus more fuel if it's mixed in the elbow) than the front one?

I know that even the extremely high-tech formula 1 teams have problems with finding intakes that distributes the same amount of air to all cylinders.

Then again.. Maybe a turbocharged engine will distribute the air more evenly, since the boost will even out the pressure in the intake manifold?

How much power are you planning on? Elbow mounted injectors are almost a thing of the past except on all out race cars. (600+ hp)

they sell plumbed elbows somewhere, one of the online stores
unless you already have a greddy elbow
in that case at least its a proven idea

when I saw this in a 3d gen for the 1st time ever a couple weeks ago I was shocked

the guy was running the stock ecu!!
15 psi and he said it would spike to 18
How can he be running the stock computer? A fuel pressure regulator? soldering something to the stock computer??

he just had a greddy elbow with 2 injectors sticking out of it.

Don't flame me I didn't believe it either but when I went for a ride in his car I was questioning weather my car is a honda or something compared to his raw rx7

that **** was scary fast

How do you control those injectors with a stock ecu?

I had a black FD a few years ago running a stock ecu 15 psi and 2 additional injectors plumbed into the intake manifold. I had a Profec B to control boost and I controled the injectors with an HKS AIC controller. That setup worked fine, never had a problem. I see everybody buying ecu's from Petit, PFS, and so on...and for what? Its a waist of money.

For not much more than a Profec B and a HKS AIC I could buy a Power FC and do it right. You dont have control over the timing with a HKS AIC, the timing is where a lot of people blow thier motor. As for a upgraded ecu's like pettit they arnt really any more than what your set up cost so its not a big deal either way.

I'd much rather have larger injectors and a Power FC thats all nice and hidden away with a clean install. You get MUCH more function, can actually tune your car among many other things. Its much better than ghettoing everything in there.

I'm sure some of you know this, but Greddy does sell an elbow with Injector fittings already welded in, I saw one over @ Jason's shop, it was cool, I drooled but didn't want to hassle with figuring out how to fire two additional injectors (yet).
