Well if he does have the stock parts and is in of money, he can sell the non essentials to get the ball rollng. Remember selling the car like that isnt helping you, its hurting you. You're basically giving money away as you sell the car. Might as well milk it for as much as you can.

The car would still be intact and can run so it will always be able to sell.

Audio equipment, gauges, hood, bumper, maybe even wheels (although stock wheels would look weird on the flared rears).

Thats a couple of grand right there.

This is the best car buyers market of the century so with that in mind take 20k and go shopping and you'll be amazed at the deals you can find which will make taking a loss on your car much easier to stomach.

If you have the time I'd recommend converting it to stock to make it a more attractive/practical car for an easier sale while recouping some of your investement in the mods.

Best of luck
+1 its worth 20k, but good luck selling it. dont give it away, sell it later

We just sold a 95 fd with 5xxxx original miles for $20k. People are out there ready to buy. Autotrader has very few cars posted on there right now. While craigslist is great, it still isnt as good as autotrader.

When you advertise the car you need to heavily push the dyno numbers. Dyno numbers and track times make it much easier to sell a high end car. Not a lot of 480rwhp fds running around on pump gas.

Well I was going to post that it depends on the particular buyer, if he knows about FD"s, if hes a member of the forums.

I noticed when selling FD's on your local auto trader they call for a higher price as opposed to selling on this forum.

I wouldn't pay more than 17k for a single turbo FD. Everyone knows you wont get the money you put into the car back.

If it was me I'd list it for 22k on Autotrader with nice pictures and a well written description. If there's a buyer looking for a wide body red FD you may get lucky

A highly modified FD will not bring a penny more than a bone stock one unless you find the right buyer...in fact many times stock FD's bring more $$$. People are blowing smoke when they say 17K-20K again maybe to the guy whose dream car consist of everything your car has, or sold by dealer who specializes in RX-7’s. I hate to be the one to break the news but RIGHT NOW in the current market you will doing good to get about 6K-9K for it.... people will come out to say im full of ****...do about 3 minutes worth of research and you will know im telling the truth. Check- This board! Craigslist, eBay, Auto trader or Local sales... sure you can find tons of people asking big $$$ but they don’t sell…they just sit there For Sale.

Keep in mind that the people that have responded to your thread ARE FD OWNERS the last thing they want to hear or admit is that their cars are worth about 1/2 what they were worth a year ago. I feel sorry for them ... its sad but true… just hold onto it the market will bounce back someday and you should sell then if you’re considering it.

This is the GOLDEN RULE for car sales “A car is only worth what you CAN sell it for

Every month or so some FC owner wanders into the 3rd gen section talking a bunch of nonsense about finding FD's left and right for under 10k, and they NEVER follow up on it. Sure you can find salvage title FD's for 6-9k but that doesn't have anything to do with clean well built or original cars. You've done some homework but you got all the answers wrong buddy.

Just because owners who have their cars listed on here and on eBay are getting **** offers for under 10k doesn't reflect the value of their car unless they're willing to sell for that price. By your logic a car is worth whatever cheap lowballing high school kids offer you for it. When I sold one of my FD's last fall I had offers from 4500-9000 everyday. Does that mean that my car was worth that? No, it means that there are a ton of lowballing idiots who waste everyones time, probably similar to what you're offering people. I sold the FD for exactly what I wanted a month later to someone who understands that you get what you pay for. If someone was selling a $300,000 car and a hundred people offer the guy $50,000 for it, does that mean his car is only worth 50k? No, it means a hundred dreamers just wasted everyones time.

True but the price FD's sell for cosides with their value.

If people keep selling their FD for 12-15k, they will value in that area for the same form of FD.

Thats why i strongly urge sellers to be FIRM on their asking price. Dont lowball yourself if you dont have to, it only hurts the entire market for these cars.

Hold on a sec here...im not talking about offers here...im talking about cars that SOLD...like I said...something is worth what you CAN sell it for..not the price you put on it...or what the other sold his for. It would take you all of maybe 10 mins to verify everything I have said. You can find it on this very board...LOL BTW..im no dreamer...

100% right.... the buyers set the market...what you said is the only way a seller can hope to make it hold value...although that is near impossible in this economy.

88rxvert, I spend a LOT of time in the 3rd Gen car FS section and there are most definitely not clean FDs selling for $6-9k. The ones that are are either

(a) have a blown engine
(b) are slushboxes
(c) have a salvage title
(d) have been in at least one pretty bad accident
(e) are ghetto-rigged with shitbox ebay mods or
(f) some combination of the above.

If you want a nice FD, you're paying 12-15K on up.

I will say that eBay is a great gauge of the current market..the way the bidding works it shows what buyer are willing to pay. Both by what they did sell for and what they didnt sell for.

88rxvert - you're giving us a headache man...

I'm a little bummed that such a nice car would only fetch $20K according to the resident experts here. Fritzflynn knows better than anyone.

I have to agree with the idea of throwing it on Autotrader. Anyone that spends time on this site will ALWAYS lowball you because they know all the same things about the car (strengths and weaknesses). Pay for a cheap add out on Autotrader for $27K and see if there is a bite. There are a lot of people with plenty of money on the sidelines right now. You might find some younger guy that makes $200K and has some cash to throw at a fun car.

Good luck & nice car. I always liked those Pettit flares when done right.

You might also find when out for a drink tomorrow night that Keira Knightley just happens to be in the same bar and in a particularly horny mood looking for an FD owner to nail.

A young guy making $200k pa (a rare breed) will probably spend a lot more than $27k on a car and, if he does spend that amount, he has E46 M3s, E39 M5s, B6 S4s, 911s with the funny headlights, EVOs, STis etc. to chose from.

I really don't know why so many people still think that modifications add value to a car when all evidence points to the contrary. (That said, the $6-$9k estimate is silly - though if the economy continues on its current trajectory it may be plausible in a year.)

You think making an attack on the city I reside in is any way going to affect this argument? Or are you just doing it because you have nothing better to say? What does Las Vegas have ANYTHING to do with this conversation? By the way both of my CYM's are located in Maryland, and less than 6 months ago I had multiple offers over $20,000 for each of them individually but refused to sell.

Back to your eBay links:

This is a RHD car and worthless for registering for street use. No reason it should be included in this conversation.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks___Twin-Turbo-5sp-great-condition-wheels-and-more_W0QQitemZ120386407906QQddnZCarsQ20Q26Q20Truck sQQddiZ2282QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash= item120386407906&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=6 5%3A3%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 SOLD $10.000

70k Miles with original engine and no compression #'s, 10k is reasonable considering it's in poor shape and modded poorly

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-...1%7C240%3A1318 $7950.00 high bid.

High bids don't mean anything, like I said in my first post. What does the $7950 high bid prove other than he was being lowballed?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-...1%7C240%3A1318 14K miles… $8000.00 high bid

14k Miles on a rebuilt motor, no documentation of original miles or other issues. But again, 8000 high bid means nothing if it didn't sell. I could bid 8000 on a Ferrari Enzo, if that was the high bid at the auction end does that mean the Enzo is only worth 8000? No, use some common sense.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-...1%7C240%3A1318 Dint sell… Buy it now $9800.00

This is the same car from the 3rd link you posted, with mods & 100k miles, $9800 is a good deal

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-...1%7C240%3A1318 Didnt sell High bid $6500.00

144,000 miles. But again, high bids mean nothing without sales.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-...1%7C240%3A1318 Didn’t sell…high bid $6100.00

This is the same car you listed twice already. You're not that tricky.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-...1%7C240%3A1318 No sale $5900.00

Car has 136,000 miles. But a high bid means nothing without a sale.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-...1%7C240%3A1318Dint sell…. high bid $5900.00

215,000 miles and in poor condition all around, I know you're not that dumb. But again, no sale = doesn't matter what the high bid is.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-...1%7C240%3A1318Didn’t sell high bid $5300.00

Owner stated in the ad "My bottom line is 16,500 so thats the reserve to hit here" which is a fair price. $5300 high bid means he was lowballed

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-...1%7C240%3A1318 Didn’t sell…Buy it now $8500.00

72000 miles with and ENGINE FIRE. In no way reflecting the market value.

We could take a trip on this board if you guys want...but im not trying to offend anyone on the board selling thier car...I was simply answering the OP's question based on my own research.
Your research is obviously flawed. You're trying to tell people the market value of clean, well modded & original cars is under 10k because you found a bunch of high-mileage, crap examples on eBay? People who are buying nice examples of FD's are not buying them on eBay or craigslist, and they're paying good money for them still.

Worst researcher ever. It is near impossible to find a clear title running 5 speed fd for $9k, let alone 6k. Then again, I likely dont have your experience or research in this matter

Just having a good time, but you are seriously way off on your guess of what the car is worth even in this bad economy.

The bottom line is no one can accurately predict what ANY FD would sell for. List the car for what you think it is worth and wait for the right buyer to come along.

At 21 I bought my first FD, it had a salvage title for 11K. Sold it a few years later to a friend for 13.5K He modded the hell out of it and ended up selling it for 19K, I never thought he would get 19K for a car with a salvage history but he did.

The economy is bad right for most but some are doing better than ever and will spend the money. List the car for what you think it is worth and drop the price if needed.
