I was thinking of making my own enging torque brace and would need to know if there is a possiblity to buy those end rods somewhere ?

I think these end rods contain some rubber or something similar to dampen to small vibrations and that normal end rods wouldnt be ok.

Can anyone comment who did his own etb ?

In worst case I can have such end rods machined and rubber/polyurethane or something similar pressed.

why don't you just buy Garfinkles?? They are excellent quality and only 100 or so plus shipping..

 

Notice my location. I'm fed up with high shipping cost and on top of that high import taxes so I tend to try and do stuff myself (with help of others).

Garfinkles brace needs 2x shipment (first brackets, then the rod after measurement).

$80 for eBay etb sounds reasonable. But I cannot find it on eBay ?

I know its illegal but maybe a shop can be nice enough to drop the "price" on the invoice for you to make it cheaper to get past customs. Or maybe have someone that owns their own company buy it for you and they'll ship it to you with an "official invoice".

There's none for the FD right now, but I did buy one from this ebay store. You may email the seller or go for an universal one and modifiy it to fit...

I got my race quality tie rod and ends from a "Carting" retailer. They used them in steering systems. I then got some heavey aluminum pieces, flat and "L" shaped and cut them to size with a hack saw. Got the correct size screws and a few rubber washers to go between the body mounted bracket. It works great, cost about $35 in all and was fun to make. You will notice more vibration at idle or low RPM's though but great under load!

 

I will just go with Fritz's FEED torque brace
I like the damped etb idea better. And its bling bling

 

You may want to think about installing some urethane engine mounts instead of a torque brace.. I know it's a few $$ more but I like the feel of the car with the stiffer mounts and no brace better than I did when I had my torque brace on & stock mounts.

If you're going to make something, I'd try to make something like Garfinkle's made before I'd use solid rod ends again.. His is bushed with rubber and looks like it'll absorb some of the irritating vibrations.
