Thinking about buying 93 FD R1

It has a salvaged title, heavily modified, but it has 11k on new motor and turbos. Rebuilt tranny also. He wants 11k. What do you think?

I personally wouldn't buy a salvage title. But if you like it and feel everything will work out, then I say go for it

what is a normal price for an 93 R1, body has 100k, but rebuilt 11k miles ago? Say a stock one.

About $13K - $14K, but it depends on location, and a lot of other variables. I wouldn't bother w/ a salvage title car either, and would spend the extra money for a clean title.

11k for salvage title seems a bit much. for the sake of negotiation, i'd offer something 4 figures, at least to start with

Like everybody else has said, look for a car with a clean title. RX-7s are a pain in the *** enough without having to worry about what else could be wrong on a salvage car.

Furthermore, I would advise you to look for a low mileage car and pay a little bit more. Don't worry about getting something that is "highly modified." I've learned that its best to do it yourself and make sure its all done the way it should be.

I bought a "highly modified" car with a new engine/turbos with less than 20,000 miles on them. In 6 month the diff. needed rebuilt, the tranny was trash and the engine blew into a bunch of unusable parts.

I'm spending a lot more money now than if I would have bought something with real low mileage and gone from there.

These two in combination make no sense. People who baby their RX-7 do not put nitrous in it (and do not stick ridiculous oversized ricer gauges on their dash). And putting nitrous in an RX-7 is very unusual for someone who knows what they are doing. That 11k mile motor may be equivalent to a 70k motor in another FD.

FDs are not that rare. Find another one.
