Talking

Being interrupted when waxing and having to explain how come it is so shiny, and trying to convince them that the car really is 14 years old

yeah, I hate that too. I think that there is a thread here on minimising the clunks and rattles - all probably quite solvable. Almost anything plastic in the car creaks, the big black plastic removeable panel behind the seats moves around.

I use to have a kncking exhaust which took a while to figure out - found this by giving the tail-pipe a kick (gently of course)

Love It Or Leave

1. Racing. I agree. Everyone always seems to want to race. 12 yrs ago when I got the car, brand new, peoples driving habits were different. The other day a Ford Bronco (punched holes in the exhaust) pulled up to me at light and started to rev his engine (had to laugh, cause I know what I'm pushing, and I've learn what not to do on the streets over the years).
2. Replacing OEM parts from the dealer (if your the type that needs OEM new, especially if your an original owner) . Some parts discontinued/some parts BOO-KOO $$$$$

Everyones concerns and issues etc. are why Mazda only sold the car in the US for 3 yrs. (of course other issues as well)

Thats it---LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT- as said

Things that **** me off is my wife think my FD is piece of junk. She think that way, becasue I am always working on my FD. it's not broken, I am just putting in NEW parts! Maybe she is just jealous, because she knows that I love my FD more then my wife??

Is the reliability REALLY that bad with these 13b's? Every engine can suck given the right circumstances.

mmm, I don't see any posts about reliability, mine's been perfect for 14 years - albeit needing a turbo rebuild (new bearings actually)

with or without your butt in the seat (saggy springs?)
Nah, i weigh 151lbs. Im light. I heard the car is normally like this. Im gonna cure it soon with a set of coilovers.

yeah, I hate that too - if you bump your idle speed up a touch, it helps
Well my car has been running pretty good lately, i dont want to fiddle with anything to disturb it. You know that saying, "if its not broke, dont fix it". lol

There were a few who commented about the car being down all the time, so thats why I made the comment.

Too much attention, mainly at home in my driveway. There are Idiots ALWAYS coming and asking me about the car, how much for it, etc. etc. I remember my mom ordered a pizza once, I was in my room, and even the damn PIZZA boy wants to know about my car, blah blah blah. On the streets it isn't that bad, I occasionally get an idiot or two trying to rev at me and egg me on.

Oh, I hate my stupid radio antenna! It's so embarrassing parking at school next to everyone and hearing that "crunch crunch crunch"

I hate the hatch struts. Whenever it is below freezing they seem to leak and the hatch comes crashing down onto my head. Maybe I just need new struts....

+1 on the antenna. I avoid using the radio just because the antenna is so hideous.

I hate that even when my FD is running well, I am always nervous that there's going to be a catastrophic failure at any given moment...and all the damn rattles.

I can't believe noone's mentioned it yet, but what about all the "unwanted" attention from cops?!? This is the BIGGEST problem I have with the car. It seems like EVERY time I take it out, I'm worried about driving by or next to an officer and gettin' slapped with tickets. No front plate, exhaust, tinted windows, lowered, sound system too loud and whatever else they can think of

Edit: I even got pulled over once because an officer "thought" my car looked fast. WTF?!?

Taking the turbo out. And having to pull all of the studs off the turbo to get the down pipe out.

You guys do know that you can disconnect the antenna mass and still get the same reception. Atleast thats what i did and i noticed no difference in signal quality or strength.

Not in Japan, i cant believe how little attention the FD gets. Police here are more interested in VIP cars
