They dont PORT REMANS do they ??
I bought my 94 fd with a Mazda reman already in it, installed by Mazda of Roswell Georgia in july 98.
I,m curious if other than hassling the dealership i could find out about the motors origins? is it ported? ect.ect.
I dont feel like taking it apart to find out!
I have the full invoice with freight codes, ancillaries and prices, the motor shows 2175 CPM at $1860
26k careful miles later ,I get 20 1bs at idle and pulls exceptionally strong on the dyno ,march last year with just a stock setup and just a DP. and Catback i got 244 hp and 253 1bs tq.
I,m sure thats not unique in itself but I have been asked by a few FD freinds is that a ported motor? possibly by the sound too?
Any ideas anyone??

If the dealership did the order for the engine, it's extremely doubtful it's ported. However, check the following thread:

It will contain information on how to tell if an engine is ported without tearing it down....

Lots of idle vacuum is not a "symptom" of a port job. You usually get the most vacuum with stock ports.
Of course, vacuum gauge inaccuracy, altitude, and idle RPMs make idle vacuum very hard to compare from car to car. But it seems very unlikely that a street ported engine would pull 20 in Hg.

Kinda wishfull thinking...I guess a regular Mazda reman is not so bad after all.
Typically do they replace vacum lines? or just re use the old stuff? they feel hard as hell now but have good vacum so i may leave well alone until they leak,or go single of course, thanks,C.
