Thumbs up Thermo-tec exhaust wrap

I recently pulled my turbos to port the wastegate, and while i had everything off I decided to put some of the exhaust wrap on it. I made a little heatshield peice for the top of the turbos, and wrapped the downpipe and midpipe as well. I have to say that it made quite a difference. I can now comfortably touch (not for too long) my ABS heatsheild. It seems to have cooled the turbo area down quite a bit. It was $46 for 50 feet, and that covered the turbos, downpipe, and midpipe. It wasn't that hard to do either. Just thought I'd share.

I don't think you want to do that on a street car. It may help with spool up and keep underhood temperatures down, but you're also subjecting the covered parts to a shitload of extra heat and something might break. If you want the same effect get a Jethot coating on the INSIDE of the parts that can be coated.

I'm not too worried about subjecting the downpipe and midpipe to high temperatures, though. They can handle it. And the piece over my turbos is just like the stock heatsheild.

How many layers did you use? I used 8 layers on my DP and I can grab it and hold on to it after a hard run. I also made heat sheilding around my ABS to protect it from heat (used 4 layers, i stiched it together with the strands of the thermotec wrap )

BTW: Its about 35 bucks from Summit for 2inch 50 foot section

It's hard to say if I noticed any performance difference from it, because at the same time I took the restrictor plate out of my exhaust. My main reason was for less heat.
