Is there a special Edition 3rd gen Rx7

I know there is a special LE for 1st gen 7's and Shinka edition for the Rx-8. Is there a special one for 2nd and 3rd gens?

You could probably get away with calling the '93 CYM a "special edition" for the US.

Not to be ****, but c'mon...there is NOTHING special about CYMs, other than ppl wanting them. They produced 350 CYMs in 93, as compared to 57 R2's in 95 (16 Silver, 18 Black, and 23 Red). That's like saying Chase White is a special edition, just cuz it's "rare."

The closest you can get to "special edition" stateside would be the one and only Pearly White PEP FD made in '94, rumored to be at Mazda Irvine Headquarters...

I'd take a CYM over a 95 red, black or silver R2 any day of the year.

Regardless color alone does not signify any of them as a "special limited edition" The fact is there were no special limited edition model 3rd gen RX7's offered in the united states.

True, arguing over a subject that, in the long run, everyone is wrong is kinda stupid isn't it ?

amp, your point is well take, but still, that doesn't qualify a CYM as being a special edition. That's like saying the CYM (or whatever they call it) RX-8 is a special edition, since they did away w/ the color after '04, and introduced white for '05 (hmm..sound familiar? lol)

Which is why I originally posted: "None of 'em ever made it to the US market though."

I mentioned "probably" because of the combination: it's a rare color only available on '93s and it's an R1. I completely understand your point though, that's why I said "probably" in my original post. Out of all the US models it would seem as though the CYM would be close as you'd get to a "special" edition model.

Frankly I really don't care...just thought I'd mention it.

technician, I feel you. I gotta admit, although I've never been a big fan of CYMs, when I see one, I always think "Wow...now THOSE are rare" I also thought Chaste White was real rare, but the production #s show 600+ were made over 94 - 95. A LOT were auto too

What is this "Pearly White PEP FD" you mentioned? Was that a custom job done for someone @ Mazda? Would be a cool machine to own for a collector!

You really never heard about her? Man...she's like a forum legend. Seriously. I've never seen pics...and I don't know if anyone has any (hmm...I'm gonna start a thread about that lol) but yea...there was only one Pearly White PEP FD ever made, and it was in '94. It's 100% factory. Mazda just up an decided to make one, and only one lol. Rumor has it that it's housed at Mazda Irvine Headquarters... so you can either steal it, or good luck fighting for it

EDIT: Here's the link to the thread I just started. We'll see if anyone's ever seen it https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?p=4340040

There is no "probably" about it.
There were NOspecial editions made for U.S. consumption.
