We have a tracking device company in Canada called Boomerang. It operates on cellular technology to triangulate where your car is, then a tracking vehicle is sent out to pinpoint the address. If the car moves without the keyfob, the company starts tracking your car automatically. They do not know where you are at any given moment, as they do not track until you car is stolen. Even then they can not pipoint your location without the tracking vehicle.

It cost about $500 CDN plus $12 a month. If they have to track your car they charge another $250. In Quebec some insurance companies will not insure you if you don't have one, as they have a lot of theft. They are now expanding into the USA, you can contact them if you want to do installs for them.

This was the first item I installed on my car, and someone stole it 6 months later. They recovered my car within 10 hours, which was far longer than usual for them, they usually take an hour if the thief stays in an area with a lot of cell towers. My car would not have been recovered without it, because it was found with 6 other stolen vehicles, parts for more, as well as a bunch of stolen snowmobiles. The police were happy as pigs in **** that I had that device.

Alarms only tell the thief to work faster, and you guys looking for the pager, do you really want to run out into your driveway to confront a thief in your pajamas? The guy who stole my car took it from my driveway at 5:30 in the morning under a bedroom window next to a busy well patrolled street. If he's that crazy I don't want to meet him unless I've got a gun, and they don't allow us to have guns here in Canada. (almost)

Are you sure about this? I believe it used to be a fact that access to satellite data had such a restriction, but now the limit is more like 3 feet.

I am not trying to single you out Go Racer, but I just wish people here on the board would check a little more before posting opinions or comments as facts.

LoJack sux. By the time they find it, it's too late. You're car would be already stripped. If you car is stolen, you probably don't want it back.
