For this:

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...ight=fuel+pump

I did the install this weekend and the directions were perfect. There was no place where I was thinking what the hell is he talking about?? I got my bose **** and spare tire out of the way while doing it too what a relief!

I'm gonna give my own little spin on the directions for any people like me that need all the help they can get to make this easy.

1. Remove the carpet in the rear (if you have bose I think you have to remove the wave tube but I am not sure because I don't have it). Yes, if you have the bose lift the carpet up and hang it inside of the car on the divider so it is out of the way. Then unscrew all of the blots holding the bose tubes down and then on the driver side unplug the connection to the bose and take everything out. I also took out the spare and used that area to store all of the screws and everything I took out so I wouldn't lose it.
2. You should see a silver metal cover to the drivers side (US spec) with 4 screw holding it on. Remove those 4 screws and lift up a little on the cover.
3. The cover will not come off because of 2 wires. First unclip the big one and then unbolt the other. One is a white connector and the other is a small ground bolt. Use some needlenose pliers to get that loose and then take it off with your hand the rest of the way. Then push on the left side of the white connector while pushing back on it also. (this was really hard for me with hardly any room)
4. Now you can slide the cover out of the way. You should see a few rubber lines running around in there now. The point of the next few steps is to get some lines out of the way and get some lines off so that you can lift up the plate later on. There are 2 bolts to remove holding down lines on white plastic pieces, remove them.
5. Move the clips back on the 2 lines that run into the middle and push the lines off. (It helps to use a pair of pliers to wiggle them to break them loose. Also have a rag to catch some of the fuel in those lines.) I used pliers to grab ahlold of the 3 clips on the clips and then squezed them together and wiggled them back out of the way. to get the lines off I used pliers wiggling back and forth and also took a flathead and pushed back from the inside of the line.
6. Move the clip back on the line closest to the front passenger side and slide back the line.
7. There are a bunch (don't know exact number) (8) of little screws holding down the cover to the fuel tank. Remove these screws without stripping them.
8. Push the lines out of the way so you can lift up on the cover.
9. Pull the cover up, fuel pump attached. Be careful when pulling it out. Do this slowly and don't force it the assembly is about a foot long so you have a lot to pull out of there. you can easily bend the fuel leven indicator or mess up the filter if you hit it on something while pulling it out.
10. Remove the 2 bolts that hold on the + and - terminals. One is 7mm and the other is 8mm I believe.(yes) I couldn't get to the 8mm one so I waited till a later step to take that off.
11. Remove the screw holding the bottom support and remove from the assembly. (This screw is really on there...when you go to tighten it later don't strip it that will happen easily)
12. Unclip the filter bag (I think that is what that is) and clip it on the new pump. (maybe clean this off a little too mine was kinda dirty)
13. Remove the old pump and plug in the new pump.
When you remove the old pump 2 pieces will be stuck in the hole from where you took it out. take a small screwdriver and get those out. Use the piece from your old fuel pump that is orange and goes around the top of the pump where it connects. then put on the black ring so it touches that orange piece and then there is a little tan looking cap push that on as far as it will go. Then push all of that up and connect it (this was hard for me the black ring really is a tight fit to seal it)
14. Hook up the + and - terminals (you really can't mess them up because they are different sizes).
15. Screw the bottom support back on and drop into fuel tank.
16. Screw down the cover to the fuel tank, hook up the lines, put the bolts back in, clip up the electrical connections, and put the silver cover back on and put in the 4 screws that hold it down.
17. After everything is back together and you cleaned up start the car and let it idle for a few minutes and check to see if everything looks noramal. (I could smell that I was running really rich and the idle was normal)
Drive around slowly for a little to check it once again and then you can get on it later to make sure that works too.
18. Drink a beer, wash up all your cuts, take a nap, and enjoy your new fuel pump

Really good write up...I am saving this for future reference. But I had a question though, are you required to release the pressure in the system before replacing the fuel pump?
