Check out this thread of mine: Pineapple idler pulley
I've had my not-so-track-prepped car on the track recently for two 20 minute sessions and had zero water cooling problems (oil was a different story)... but of course there are a lot of things that affect the outcome of your fluid temps... IMHO, if you ditch your airpump and really beat on the car you should have one of these, I would consider a must have if you track the thing.

Until I read this thread I was totally unaware there was an air pump idler pulley available. I asked last fall when I was doing the single turbo swap and the pulleys you see in my pic was all that was recommended to me, yet at the time I questioned if the contact patch on the water pump pulley would be sufficient enough. I know what I will be buying.

You can't be serious. I always thought 80 was a good temp. 70 is your high end temperature? I don't run my car on the track but I always flog it a bit on the highway at around 70 - 80. UGH. I'm glad I'm upgrading my IC to an M2 medium but I doubt I'll be getting a steady 55 or even 70.

Just yesterday i got my 92 FD back form the mechainc after having the rear suspension serviced and bushes replaced, i noticed it was running a little high like in the 90's which it usually never does not even in the heat (custom radiator huge) usually alwasy chills on 83C.
So i pulled over to the side of the road and hello turbo timer lol just got hotter. But i noticed (in lamen terms) the plastic slightly reinforced pipe from the point you put in the coolant in to the water pump had heated up and crimped. I later found out they had moved my exhaust slightly moving the single turbo exhaust chamber closer to the pipe = failing. Was stuck in mangere gas statation (compton :P). And got a rope tow home hehe.
