Temp woes... help pls.

I am usually at 180 F on my defi gauge... but lately I seem to get a bit of fluctuation from ~ 175 F to 195 F... It drops to 175 F then just crawls up to 195 F then crawls back down again... This isn't all the time but about 70% of the time (as in about 30% It sits on 180F and doesn't move), I drive mainly highway on Interstates near my house. Not much stop and go traffic.

Could this be a thermostat going out? Maybe getting hung up? Not much experience with this so would appreciate the help.

Also yesterday was hotter than it's been in a few months and I was in traffic with a/c on, temps were fine sitting at 180 F all day, then wham, I'm at 195-200 F... I turned a/c off and as soon as traffic started moving my temps cooled. I was a bit distressed by this since I have a Fluidyne rad, aluminum ast, pfc with fan mod, wrapped dp, hi-flo cat etc. I usually run real cool. As far as I know I have done all cooling mods. This morning I checked my rad level and seemed a bit low, added some water and all seems good.

Just seems weird to me, the temp fluctuation and then the spike yesterday.

Anyone out there have any ideas?

Your temps are, if anything, low. You do not have a problem. Temps should fluctuate.

I agree with Adam, your temps will fluctuate. They are not going to stay the same, that's just about impossible. The water is going to heat up over time...

Once the fans come on, they'll drop back down... then when they are low, fans turn off... then it heats up again, then when the thermostat opens again... fans turn on... and lower it again... this process goes on and on...

If you start hitting 215-220 degrees I would be concerned. But you're sitting at around 87 degrees C which is low. Stock FD's usually sit around 93-95 degrees C which is roughly 199-203 degrees F
