Matt which Tanabe did he have? The G-Power Medallion or one of the race exhausts with small muffler canister?

I can't decide between a Tanabe G-Medallion (5-inch oval tip) or an RB unit with dual 3-inch tips?? Fit and finish on the Tanabe is fantastic, at least from the pics I've seen from some websites...

the g power medalion. It sounds great! I couldnt believe it. My concern however is that it doesnt flow that great..the design doesnt appear "that" straight thru.
Currently i have the apexi n1 dual (with mp)..you think i am gonna loose power if i put the g power in its place?

Trust me i hear the rb and the g power..u want the g power...where did u find it the cheapest?

$544.95 from Rotary Performance...talk to Rockie or Arie...

The trouble is I have Greddy SP catback that's 5 years old, and Bonez High Flow full cat replacement that's 4 years old.

During the last couple of years, I've noticed my exhaust note getting louder, and the exhaust fumes are quite strong (I can smell it sitting at stop light with A/C or vent on)...

Rockie thought my high-flow cat might be burned up which might be responsible for the increased noise...and the fumage...

So you really like the G-Power Medallion eh?

What do you think of the tip? Is it really ricey looking? Is it oval-shaped?

I don't know anything about flow. I'd say your current catback and the M2 Dual Tips are the best flowing FD catbacks, but I have no data...just stories from this board...

it looks nice..not as nice as the n1 dual but...sound is more important to me..when i go WOT and 2 turbo come on my car screams with the n1 dual and midpipe.

How do u think it flows...the quietier the less flow?
the g force is slightly louder than stock but definatley sounds deeper and nicer. Is there a relationship to loudness and flow?...i think so.

Probably is a relationship with noise level and flow...although the G-Power Medallion has a pre-silencer in line with the catback piping...don't know how the "pre-silencer" impacts flow, but it must help in quieting the noise level down...althought the M2 Dual has very high flow (so I've read), and its noise level is considerably less than your Apexi N1 Duals....?

How would you describe the G-Medallion's exhaut note, compared with say a Greddy SP with high flow cat or midpipe?

Both of the links I posted shows the G-Power Medallion with built-in presilencers...

I can tell you that my Trust Catback (Greddy SP) is NOT quiet!

rerx7,

I have a downpipe, and high flow cat from Rotary Performance. My Greddy SP is quite loud at this point...don't know if my high flow cat's failing, but the exhaust noise is loud and deep. The tone burbles at idle with a deep tone.

Do you still have the precat and main cat in place, or are you running a DP/MP/CB?

Is the G-Power Medallion's tip oval, or more round?

The G-Power does not have a presilencer. It's tip is oval so it's doesn't look as big as it really is. It's quieter cause it uses a larger canister with more muffliing area than most exhausts out there, much like the RB Dual Tip, which is quieter.

Between the two, they both sound great. I don't think you'll regret getting either one. Everyone commented on how they liked the sound of my FD w/ the G-Power. I was able to trap 111mph in the 1/4 with intake, dp, mp, the G-Power, and PFC, so it does produce a lot of power. I think the power between most 3" catbacks aren't that significant. Maybe 2-3 hp differences.between them.

yeah, it looks like that, but it doesn't come with it, and Tanabe doesn't sell midpipes for the FD as far as I know. I had the G Power with and w/o a midpipe. With midpipe, it was much louder, but that's true for every exhaust, except for stock.

The thing doesn't look like rice at all . What is ricey is huge *** round tips that everyone and their mamas have.

thatoneguy,

I see, so all we get for the FD is the muffler canister and the pipe just in front, but NOT the mid section part...which would either be midpipe, or main cat...

So you really like the exhaust that much eh....

Still on the fence...perhaps you could post a pic of your exhaust on the forum?

Spoolin,

Thanks for posting your pics...your exhaust does look great on your car...the tip doesn't look ricey either...not nearly as ricey as my current Trust catback (same as Greddy Sport)...

Now if I could Rishie ARD T2 to get me a deal on the Tanabe G-Power Medallion...

man, you'd never believe it. he doesn't have any more, so i will say that first. i bought this muufler from a guy here in town that does honda repair work and a little tuning. some guy who goes to insurance auctions and buys stuff like burned tractor trailers for the axles and whatever parts are salvageable called the local honda dealer and asked if they would buy the stuff out of the trailer. they wouldn't, of course, b/c of not being into performance parts so they recommended john. he bought the entire lot of 4 sets of rims, 26 cat back systems and 12 apex mufflers for $2,500. the tanabe on my car was originally for a second gen eclipse. he gave it to me for $50 b/c i found 5 guys with integras and civics to buy some cb systems. i know this guy who owns a muffler shop and he put it on for me for $60 WITH the 3" tubing. therefore, i think it looks REAL great on my car....sounds ******* incredible, too. can't wait for the rest of my upgrades. coming soon to an illegal street racing scene near you
