I have the Greddy SP and it has a very deep tone. What I did notice though with a Midpipe and Downpipe they will all sound the same. The tone goes higher without Cats. So keep the Cats for a low note.

When I used to work at an import shop, this (Tanabe RM) was my favorite sounding exhaust. Problem is I've never heard it on an FD...but they sounded nice on Rice-Mobiles
If you want 4 inch, there is an HKS titanium Exhaust which is loud as hell.

"FD" is short the chasis code for the 3rd Gen RX-7, "FD3S" ("Eff Dee Three Ess" ... NOT "Eff Dee Threes"). Similarly "FC" refers to second gen (FC3S) and the first gen is SA22C. If you're in Japan and looking to buy parts, good luck calling it a "3rd Gen RX-7" because it's much better known (and listed by nearly every part catalog) as "FD3S" or "FD".

Anyways, to answer your original question ... I have a Tanabe RM. I actually have had two of them, the first one was stolen by a garage, but I loved it so much that I replaced it with another. It's deep. It's very deep for a rotary. It's also the most efficient legal exhaust (yes, HKS Titanium may be better but it costs twice as much and it's not legal).

I used to have the Tanabe G-Power Medalion. It was the best sounding straight through exhaust for the FD hands down and it made good power too.

why did you get rid of it? Was it too loud? It sure looks cool on an FD...

The Tanabe was one of the quieter exhuast like the Greddy SP cause it had a full canisiter.

Yes Mr. Stock is right, I sold it cause I sold my car.
