I have a problem with my tan interior. Im 6 feet and I always scuff the door when trying to get out of the car with my shoes, because its low and usually I can not open the door 100%. What has anyone used to bring the bright tan back, not the dull dirty tan I have now.

 

I use a nylon scrub brush and some Simple Green automotive degreaser.

 

Same problem but Im 5 inches taller.

 

Its impossible, especially when you cant open the door 100%. Tan interior is such a b*tch to keep clean, its depressing when I see it nasty sometimes.

 

That wont hurt the interior? Not to harsh?

 

The Simple Green will not harm the panels and won't harm leather either, BUT you will need to use a leather reconditioner or moisturizer afterwards.

The nylon scrub brush will not damage the panels and will get into the texture of the panel to remove dirt.

 

I've used the simple green on my daily driver with success. I found the porous plastic/vinyl cleans up well if you lightly dampen a paper towel with simple green (or goo gone, for drastic spots) and press it into the surface. This will blot out the gunk stuck in the pores that a brush won't penetrate. But you must follow with a water blot to 'rinse' and then recondition the panel with Vinylex.

I actually used Fantastic on my tan plastic down near the floor. It worked great. Just used it with a cloth rag. Came up really bright - I was surprised.

 

I've also heard that the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser works awesome. I haven't used it on the car, but it works GREAT around the house.

has anyone found a good dye (SEM doesnt seem to match) or plastic paint that matches the tan interior?

Which SEM dye is closest? Krylon, plasticote?

 

what about having a paint shop mix some interior paint to match? I wonder if they would be capable of doing it.

 

If I paint the inside I'd paint it black. I cant stand the tan crap.

 

I'm planning that project this winter when my new seats arrive. The secret to doing it so that it will not scratch off is proper cleaning, then using a adhesion promoter.

 

I use a brush as well to clean my whole interior. It works great. I use a foaming aerosol interior cleaner though. Works awesome and gives you that clean smell.

 

Exatly, I can imagine, that me scuffing the black until it turns tan thats even more annoying.

 

I know some folks that have red interiors have a plastikote paint that matches the red perfect....anyone redye the tan with a tan that matched well? When I did it, I had to have a paint store blend then paint.

 

Tooth paste works well on textured plastic surfaces.

 

Gotta go with the fatman, I don't like the tan. Have your car auditioned for "pimp my ride" and see what they can do

 

mr clean magic eraser. like 2 to 3 bucks for two. cleans anything and everything. just wipe it off that easy. check it out if don't believe me. it is magic, also is specialized to get into the cracks and clean uneven surfaces like walls and vinyl. never seen anything like it. works better than any degreaser by far. whoever is doing the **** at Mr clean company is damn smart and I suppose rich too.
