Taking out pillow ***** with C-Clamp?

Has anyone tried taking out the old pillow ***** in the rear with a C-Clamp? Would this even be possible?

Here's my writeup with the Harbor Freight tool -

http://www.clubrx.org/default.asp?id...ntent=32&mnu=5

If you have air tools, this is a VERY easy job. Took me 30 minutes to do the second side of the car!

It's also a little easier if you've got a vise to clamp the ball-joint press into. Especially if the vise jaws rotate.

Heh wish I had known about that before I did mine ;P I ended up using some cast iron pipe fittings/end caps from home depot which worked quite well but required some fabrication work.

I used Max Cooper's method. Got some high grade Metric 12.9 bolts and hardened thick washers and didn't have to change washers or bolts, they took all 6 bushings and are still good for another go. Just lube the threads to reduce friction. Oh yeah, didn't have to remove any of the arms, did it on the car, easier than I thought.

Just did mine a couple of weeks ago with the harbor freight c-clamp using Dale Clark's writeup. It was super easy, but the air compressor is a must. Can't believe the pillow ***** set in my garage for about a year before I ended up putting them on.

Thanks for the awesome writeup Dale

A heavy duty C clamp works just as good. You can also weld a large nut on the top and run it with a impact gun. Use large sockets to push and accept the bushing

Glad my writeup has helped! I need to fool with the ones on my car, actually - just need to save and get some more bushings .

Dale's site has been gone for a while. Not the same link, but basically the same information here:

Don't worry. With Max's initial write up, how to use the C-Clamp instead will be obvious once you start the job.
