tachmeter doesn't work but everything else does. HELP

hey guys, does anyone have any idea what is wrong with my gauge. my tach doesn't work we checked the rpm wires and it's fine and everything else work. someone told me it's the capacitor inside the tachmeter usually goes bad. is this true? and how would i fix it. do i have to get a new tach?

Possibly the Tach itself in the instrument cluster, but refer to the green 1993 manual page C1-11 on the possible causes. Most of the time it is the wiring circuit.

This has been covered before, if you search i'm sure you can find what other's have done to fix this problem. My tach also likes to dance around, it's a bad solder point in the instrument cluster from what I know of. I take it you got a 93 model?

try your crank RPM sensor. back-probe it and see if you got voltage and it changes with RPM change. If you have access to specifications that'd be great way to compare. I'm not sure if the sensor wiring runs to the PCM or the tach itself. You have to check the input and output of every component of the circuit to pinpoint the problem(not just the wiring).
