Tach stuck at 9k? Guages dont work?

I am rebuilding a wrecked FD and among other issues I cant seem to figure out...
The tach is stuck at 9k. It never worked in the first place (electrical issue) but now it just kinda floped over on that side and wont flip back!

Soo how do I fix this? Repair the wiring? I thought I had it fixed, but it shorted again it seems because you can turn the wheel and it will randomly work. I will search and check again the wiring, but Im lost and looking for some insight to motivate me to fix it.

Seems as this poor fella has the same problems:

Happened to a couple of FD's I've worked on before. One one, he actually revved to 9k, and it was actually, just, stuck. I pulled the dash, flicked it back, and it was good to go. The other one was just plain ole' broke. I'm not sure of why a short would make it go back to 9k again, best bet is to just replace it.

When the tach goes it will just climb steadily to 9k and flop back every now and again and then go right back to 9k.

IOW you need a new tach.

I have one
