Tach issues
While I've searched the forums and come up with the typical check voltage ect.. However my tach is kinda strange, most days it stays at 400 rpm until the ignition is turned off. I have verified it's getting voltage, Some days it will begin to work above 3000 RPM And other days it will just work all the time but suddenly turn off..
So my question is, where does the tack get its signal from, is there anything else I should look for? Thanks in advance

I would bet its the solder points on the back of the Tach, Paul. This is what I would do/done it myself already.

Well here is my issue, I don't think it's that problem, By all means I will give it a try, but mostly I can sometimes hit a bump and it starts working then another bump gone, but It may only work 30sec a week maybe longer, the unit is from another member that said it was working, and I believe him for it mostly works occasionally when the sun and moon have aligned and there has been three children sacrificed to the goat lord Magellan... Lol but that's why I wanted to know where it comes and goes. Thanks though!!

I will let you know that I had the same issue a while back where my tach would work intermittently and it seemed like when I hit a good bump it would work for a while. I did the tach fix by replacing all of the capacitors on the tach and speedo, both because the control board for the tach is actually on the speedo, and it fixed my problems. Also shortly after experiencing problem with my tach my odometer started to go out too. Once it died my tach shortly followed. It's worth it. I cost me about $10 of parts from digikey and that was only because I bought 1-2 extras per parts just in case I messed something up. Hope this helps.
