T2 transmission in an FD?
T2 transmission in an FD?
I have heard of it being done and have also heard the T2 transmission is stronger and can hold more power. Maybe someone can clarify it for me but anyways I am creating more power and need to upgrade my clutch. I have a T2 transmission and a ACT heavy duty clutch kit brand new available for $200 so if I can make this work efficiently that would ne nice. Any feedback appreciated
The T2 and FD transmissions are fundamentally the same - they're both Mazda's Type R transmission. Just some external differences, like different bellhousing, different tailhousing for the PPF bolts, etc.
Now the T2 *DIFF* is another story. For heavy power and drag racing, the old T2 clutch style diff is stronger than the FD diff.
You won't gain anything with a T2 tranny.

by the time you acquire steel plates cut the to size and weld them into brackets it would be much easier and less of a headache to get an FD trany
