Synthetic Or Mineral?

Hi all; I am sure this was tackled, but there seems to be conflicts as to whether one should use mineral oil or synthetic in rotaries. Mazda Canada officially states MINERAL! But the owners in my area insist on synthetic! What to do? Any evidence or experience dictating one is optimal over the other? What have any of you found, data wise experience wise??? HELP!!!!!
