Swapped SMIC for larger unit - now slower??

Recently upgraded my smic from an SR motor intercooler to a pettit coolcharge II. I figured with Pettit's larger core and dedicated duct (rather than the stock duct for the SR) power output should increase marginally.

After a few 3rd gear runs on both setups, it felt like the SR unit was quicker and more responsive. Boost patterns were roughly the same 11-9-10, but the SR unit reached full boost a bit sooner.

I figure the smaller core would have less pressure drop, but would CC II 's greater cooling capacity increase overall power?

a larger intercooler requires the turbocharger to pressurize a larger volume, thereby decreasing response. overall power may be higher in some situations since the SR would heat soak more quickly.

Thanks. Unfortunately I didn't measure the intake temps to get a better handle on the pros and cons of both setups. Pettit tends to build quality products some I'm hoping their IC will provide a higher cooling efficiency.

Should of also invest in a water injection system, mine with my cc3 keeps temps down

Thanks - just interested in the trade-off between pressure drop/responsiveness and larger cooling surface area.

You may have a slightly increased spool up time with the new IC, but I think the difference you will notice most would be if you did extended periods of boost (track use), you will find the pettit will hold a cooler temp for a longer period of time. This is a trade off I would be willing to put up with, but that is since I track my car often. I can see where the boost responce could be an issue for a street car.

Thanks Cgotto6, I just imagined the bridge between the two (trade off) would not have felt so large. I swapped out my couplers and realigned the duct (pettit seems to leave a gap) to see if any gains are made.
