Suspension identification help

Hey guys, got a clunking noise in the rear when going over bumps, got it pretty narrowed down to what I need to fix it.

My suspension terms army great so thats where you guys come in.

I need to identify the bushing that is in the middle of the lower control arm. And what the bushing is holding on to?

I believe it's called the trailing arm.

If that's right, is the energy suspension trailing arm bushing for the control arm or for the trailing arm itself where it connects to the unibody?

Again my suspension terms are horrible.

The bushing you are referring to is a pillow ball bushing an is most likely the cause of the clunking. There are 6 of these in the rear end and the only replacements for these are OEM or AtomicRex

The Energy Suspension bushing would replace the bushing on the trailing arm where it connects to the unibody.

Here is a picture of the whole rear suspension off the car for easier reference.

Clunks

Replace the pillowballs and there is a 98% chance you will be good. While each side uses 3 of them, I find that the top arm pillowball is the one that usually shows the most wear and makes the most noise. It is the one that the weight of the car sits on and takes the stresses of the shock trying to keep the suspension at ride height. The pillowball connected to the trailing arm takes the foward/rearward forces of acceleration and deceleration, so probably not what would be noisy going over bumps. The pillowball on the bottom of the spindle housing locates the spindle and provides a pivot point for up down movement, but nothing holds it up or down so it really shouldn't make a bunch of noise when going over bumps either. Use a little heat on the arms when removing them and they come out 100% easier.

Turk82 is correct. The energy suspension bushing is for the trailing arm side that connects to the body via the very front of the rear subframe. The other end of the trailing arm (traction rod) is bolted to a pillow ball on the lower control arm. Theres two pillow ***** on the lower control arm and one on the rear upper control arm. PM me if you need any bushings or pillow *****. I sell pillow ***** as sets or as individual pieces.
