I have been reading a few different sources which dictate that the Supra fuel pump upgrade is not needed on the stock injectors, as the stocker is sufficient. Most of the forum guys will suggest an upgraded fuel pump for my mods. Now, I am running 13PSI on a M2 ECU w/ the mods below. I have been doing so for quite some time w/o any issues. Should I bother with the Supra fuel pump upgrade? Thanks in advanced!

 

Yes, If I were you the supra pump is a good piece of mind. You are running on the raged edge and flirting with disaster.

 

While the motor will only get whatever fuel the injectors flow, if the fuel pump can't keep up and fuel pressure drops, you will run lean. It is a relatively cheap and easy upgrade.

good insurance, and pretty easy to install

I also rewired the pump while I was in there when I found out the pump was only running at 10.5V! the wires inside the tank are tiny and the contacts are prone to corrosion

 

how about a wideband if you are worried about blowing your motor up. You can get an AEM UEGO gauge-type one for like $280.

 

Yes, the Supra TT pump would help but it wont do anything if those stock injectors are max out.

 

It won't hurt anything, but you don't need it. Stock fuel pump is good for at least 300 rwhp, and you can't make that with that crappy RB intake duct

 

Great, then you'll have some lights to go along with your blown motor! If you have a momentary glitch, or catastrophic failure, you're not going to be able to react to it quickly enough. It'll be blown by the time you notice it. Widebands are good for tuning under constant conditions, they won't do much for hickups, unless you're lucky to have several non-damaging hickups well in advance of the damaging one, so you can shut it down.

The Walbro 255 pump will overwhelm the stock pressure regulator, causing an over rich condition at low loads.

 

how would the walbro do this and the supra and BNR32 wouldnt? please explain. I read the thread linked but am trying to clarify with specifics.

 

I only have direct experience with my car after installing the Walbro pump and the base pressure being too high. But I know of cars that have had the same problem with the Warbro and several with the supra or cosmo that don't have that problem.

 

I did the supra pump mod.

The stock pump took a crap so since i was in there, might as well put something back in.

 

just did my SUPRA mod about a month ago, i liked the security of knowing that the car wont starve, also love hearing the pump talk. very easy to install aswell

 

I never heard a peep out of my poopra pump. My new Apexi BNR pump makes quite a racket when I first cycle the key on, sounds kinda cool actually

The Supra pump operates at the same pressure as the stock fuel pump. The difference is that it can flow a higher capacity than the stocker.

i was also looking at a supra pump, and was looking at rx7.com (rotary performance) "upgraded" denso pump, not that much more than supra pump, but i couldn't tell if it was any better or not

 

that was what i was wondering...if im going to need a better fuel pump for the money , i might as while buy a walbro, going in knowing im going single in the future....

255 walbro is what honda prelude's run when we go turbo....

 

Did you read that link I posted earlier in this thread? For guys planning to run much past 15 psi, the supra/walbro don't appear to be the best choice. For a single running on pump gas around 15 psi, either one will be fine.

 

Uh, you shouldn't be hearing anything.... it should be as quiet as stock.

Supra pump doesn't make any more noise than stock pump.
