Supra Fuel Pump...Good, Bad, or Indifferent

My friend just built up his 98 Supra and he put a dual fuel pump setup in it. Needless to say it is a badass car. It dynoed 666hp at the wheels. (ironic considering that it is evil) Since he had no need for it anymore, he gave me his stock pump.

I have heard that these pumps are a higher volume than the stock RX7 pumps. I know if nothing else having a newer pump could never hurt. What I want to know is if this is an upgrade or should I just think of it as a replacement of an existing part. Thanks for any feedback in advance.

The MKIV Supra TT pump, the Cosmo pump, and the Nippondenso pumps are all supposed to be the same or very similar. So yes, it would be considered an upgrade.

Just a follow up question. Is there any cutting and/or soldiering that I am going to have to do to install this fuel pump? I just wanted to find out before I dove head first into this project.

It drops right in, direct replacment. As far as the 500 HP claim.... I don't believe it. It's definitely better than the stock pump, but some of the flow testing data shows that it doesn't support as much power as people say. However I have heard a few people say that upgrading the power wiring to this pump yields better flow test results.

I have the Supra MKIV tt pump. It's much better than stock. Running 14 psi on my street ported motor it got flat above 5k with the stock pump. After the Supra pump, 20 minutes to install, it pulled hard to 8k. I have no numbers to back it up but the seat of the pants test told it all to me.

it will hold that much HP. Look at the BPU Supras running around. They put down about 450RWHP and there is no aftermarket fuel pump that is needed to handle that power.

I have one. We tested mine a T-04R powered FD here. Good to 500 BHP...so appx. 425 rwhp.

I'm sure that they can support 450rwhp, but supra's and fd's probably run different fuel pressures so it's hard to judge...

There is a certain person I know that is running 2 supra pumps and making upwards of 600 rwhp.

Thats all the proof I need.

I can't believe how easy the install is. If I didn't have the Bose system I could have saved 15 min because getting it out of the way was half the battle. As for how much horsepower it will hold I have to believe that it will hold 500hp easy. My friend that gave the pump too me was getting good fuel pressure and he was dynoing around 450hp to the wheels. Here is his site. The only problem with it is that it has a daily limit of hits and stuff. http://www.geocities.com/quiksilvertt/ It also has some pics and stuff of the Supercharged Vette he used to have. When he does something he goes all out.
