Question sup with the exhaust system over heat light always coming on when i park?

You think maybe she just constipated or should i bring her to see a mechanic? We deliver pizzas together 5 days a week and after the little overheat exhaust light comes on somtimes.

It's normally on when the key is on but the engine is not running.. however if you're sitting parked with the engine running and the light's coming on then I'd be a little concerned the cat is getting too hot. How long of driving before it goes off, and how long idling before it comes on?

Again - this is the car that sat for quite a while yeah? Might be worth jacking it up and taking a quick peek under there (make sure it's cooled down) and make sure there's not something built a nest up under there smouldering away quietly - any smoke or anything like that? It could be a clogged cat I guess, but I wouldn't think that at idle you'd get things hot enough unless you were revving the engine while stationary or something had the exhaust tweaked where it was too close to the bottom of the car perhaps. Just speculation though.

You'll definitely make it to the customers houses in less than 30 min.

Cool

Ya I deliver pizzas in my fd, Whats wierd about it?.............I dont mean the light near the steering wheels Its the little red light that looks like a button near the ash tray. It say overheat exhaust system. I notice it on after I get out of the car and the key is not in ignition, it goes out after a minute or so and i dont think it comes on while i'm driving. I change spark plugs the other day, the top left was real hard to get to and I might not have screwed it in all the way, could that maybe be the cause? Oh and it was in storage for 4 years, so i dont think any animals got to it.

I almost fell out of my chair I was laughing so hard! Thanks!

You are heating up the cat by driving slowly, starting and shutting off so much. When you stop, the heat in the cat rises and heats up the passenger floor area, where the sensor is. If the car is not running when the light is on it's not a problem. If the light comes on when the car is running, you are getting the cat too hot - either shut off or start moving.

Hey if he likes delievering pizza in an fd let him sheesh. at least he's actually using his car. i daily drive my 45+ miles a day. i love it. personally mine never comes on even when key on engine off. but hey. i'd check to see if your cat is clogged. as stated do you have a precat? and is your air pump working AND connected?

Carlos.

Daily drivin Fd's are sweet.

Wow you are not going to be driving this car for very long if you are (1) delivering pizzas in your FD, and (2) asking these sort of questions. A Honda Civic or Acura Integra would probably be a better car for you.

How do you make any money? After you add up the price of the premium gas and the shitty mileage I would think that you would be in the hole at the end of the day.

you need to get a downpipe most likely. it causes the most overheating problem in the exhaust system.

next you could get an hi flo cat or a mid pipe if your on a tight budget.

Thats cause 95% of the time, people have a burnt-out bulb (same goes with the "security" light). A quick trip to radio shack and $1 will solve that problem.

...I guess best part is that his FD is doing well into terms of still able to run all around town and yet to experience any issues. But I dunno now if your exhaust light is coming on. Do check if it's when your engine is off or on. Good luck.

I dont have a delivery sign on my car. I work at pizza express in castro valley/hayward. # is 886-3466. I work averyday excpt tuesday and sunday. I'm the only delivery guy, the other guy had to quit casue his integra was falling apart. I dont make much money cause she gas hog and always wants oil changed. But she so fast it's rediculous. I put about 3000 miles per month on her. I drive back n forth to Reno in 2-3 times a month. 220mi each way.

I know I'd give him a good tip if he showed up at my house in an FD with my Pizza. Beats the hell out of letting it sit. I guess being a garage queeen is ideal for these cars. Enjoy ! ! ! ! !

my car is a low milage 95, and very electrically sound. The only light that doesn't work is my key hole lamp.
