Lightbulb sunroof to moonroof

I was wanted to know if it was possible to replace the 93's sunroof with a 94 moonroof? I think it would be pretty simple, right?

Some 94s came with a tinted glass moonroof.

hmm... well, I just got mine replaced (my '94 moon roof). It cost $3275 at the dealer (parts and labor), so I wouldn't think it's that incredibly easy. Someone told me it wasn't that bad, but I wasn't down for trying it myself.

$3275?!!! You must really like your moonroof. I would have just welded it shut and forget about it! :p

That's like....getting a built engine w/3mm apex seals. Or a nice T-78 turbo kit. But then again, you're probably doing that now huh?....

Damn, why would it cost so much!? I assume it should be just a replacement of the piece of roof, and the mechanism remains the same. That is a little pricy for replacement.

good point.. a large portion of the expense was reaplcing all the gears & tracks and crap. I would recommend finding a used one tho - looking at my reciept even the glass and sun shade are pretty damned expensive new.

I've done it. Yes, its pretty simple/straightforward to do. The metal sunroof and glass moonroof interchange perfectly. There's just 4 bolts that hold each of them to the assembly so you just unscrew the metal roof and drop in the glass moonroof :-) No need to touch the mechanism at all.

I was happy to offer you a great deal on most all the parts(minus the glass itself that I'm keeping for my car) on my '94 assembly but you never wrote back. Dealer prices are ridiculous. BTW, there's a big difference between replacing the whole sunroof/moonroof assembly and just the roof portion. The roof portion is cake in comparison.

What about the sliding shade panel? how hard was it to install that?

Is the Glass moonroof contoured to the "bubble shaped" roof like the metal sunroof?

thanks

Its just as easy to put the sliding shade panel in as it is to take it out. Yes, the glass moonroof is contoured the same as the metal roof.
