On my way back from DGRR, I pushed the switch to close my sunroof and nothing. I got to a rest stop and checked the fuse; it was blown. I replaced the fuse with a spare and it blew when I put the switch in the close position. When I got home, I used the mechanical crank to close the sunroof. It closed smoothly under manual operation with no binding in the track.

I did some basic trouble shooting and found that the sunroof will tilt and open when I put the switch in the open position. It only pops the fuse when going from open to closed.

I am about to dive into the wiring diagram and FSM, but was hoping that someone may have a quick answer (or known causes) before I tear the headliner down and start chasing the short.

Problem fixed. It turned out to be a chafed wire making contact with the chassis. Fixing it was the easy part. The hard part was removing the headliner to get access to the damaged wiring harness.
