Suggestions for gauge holder 60mm

Any suggestions for a 2 5/8" or 60mm gauge holder, besides the Universal ATI epod?

Get the 60mm pod that fits behind the steering wheel. Someone on this site makes them. But you erased my memory by asking!

Most 52mm pods work with just a little dremelling.

That is pretty true but the autometer ones in my experience dont really have enough material to take away that 8mm extra. Other companys you can but i could barely fit greddy 52mm gauges in there.

I just wanted to point out a common misconception.
2-5/8" is not 60mm, it's more like 66.7mm.

60mm is about 2.36 or 2-3/8", not 2-5/8"

While some 52mm (2" - 2-1/16") pods can be enlarged to fit 60mm gauges I think you'll be hard pressed getting the extra 1/4" of the 2-5/8" gauge to fit them.

AFAIK, Autometer is the only major gauge maker making that larger size. I don't think they actually make a 60mm gauge yet.
I don't know of any pods for the FD that will accept the 2-5/8" gauges. I know mine won't.

Regards,
Frank

I am going to see how much material there is on the pillar pod I have currently. But, I am still afraid this gauge is too big to put in a pillar pod and look right. The "mickey mouse" look is ok for me, but I think the wife would crap if I put that in the car. And before you start flaming me for the wife remark, she is good enough to allow me five RX7's in the driveway. She actually likes this one and drives it often. Got to love her.

Mahjik, I set my Defi BF gauge (only 60mm size) up to my rx7.com 3 gauge a-pillar pod (52mm) to see if there was enough material to dremel it to 60mm, and there doesnt appear to be. In your pic, its a 2 gauge pod, and there is FAR more material on it, even after you dremelled it, than my 3 gauge pod has.

And I will suggest, as KaiFD did, Flyrx7's center speaker pod. Far far better quallity than any other pod I have seen, and my Defi gauges fit perfectly in it, plus it looks sexy

I made mine out PVC. Heat up the PVC and just enlarge as needed. Then I took some scrap plastic and made a back for it. After this I spray painted it w/some texture paint(Rustoleum Black Hammered?, Ill have to look). I like the texture becasue it kinda flows w/the interior. Provides a very snug fit yet you can still remove the gauge. I made mine for the steering column.

I made a bracket also that can be glued or screwed into the plastic shield. I tried velcro but its not able to hold. Of course you can also use rubber bands until you have time to drill & screw or glue it lol

I am going to take on this project very soon. I just need to finish up some projects I am working on. I plan on making either a single 60mm RE style steering gauge pod (already have a mold for the 52mm) and then I am going to work on doing a special one if possible. Dual 52mm or 60mm(this may be difficult) steering gauge pod. I will take a stock steering column surround top and fabricate a plug. Then I can see if it wll work. Wish me luck, or better yet more time in one day.
