Stupid question on hose/nipple

So, I'm smart enough to go through the stickies/archives/searches and as thorough as the diagrams are I can't for the life of me figure this one out.

I recently acquired my FD and I'm cleaning stuff up in the engine bay (cleaner engine bay = easier to find leaks/etc).

Anyway, I found a hose cut in half that I believe goes to the intake hose (an emissions thing, it's the one with the small clamp following the intake manifold) however underneath it there's a large nipple with no hose on it. I'm looking everywhere for another nipple with no hose on it but to no avail.

Feel free to flame, but what does this thing connect to? (not the intake hose, the one underneath it that aims left )

I'm trying to familiarize myself as much as possible with the engine. It has an aluminum radiator and aftermarket downpipe. I plan on replacing as many vacuum lines as possible as well as replacing the stock AST with an aftermarket aluminum one.

Never seen another engine bay, it has come to my attention that it's because I have no air pump (thanks Force)

So, I have 2 nipples that are without a hose.

The orange colored one is for the air pump, the one below is for?...trying to learn as I clean.

One is the intake for the airpump, the other is the bypass for the airpump.

I believe the bottom one is the intake for the airpump - that's supposed to go to the airbox/airfilter.

The top (orange rusty one) is the bypass, and if you don't have it connected to the airbox or a silencer it will make a loud "moo" sound when it lets air out.

Also I would call those "hardlines" not "nipples", but maybe that's just me. haha

Thanks for that!

I'm familiar with older 350's (pre and post '75), 7MGTE, LS1, LT1 and SRT-4/PT GT engines and regardless I always hated the emissions crap they come with here in CA.

Makes sense as to why the small pulley looks so new where the air pump would normally be.

I still need to get a boost/vac gauge and AEM wideband, unless this forum prefers a different brand wideband? I've used AEM for tuning/monitoring on other turbo cars.

i've heard the aem wideband quality is hit or miss, mostly miss.
theory picked up a innovate mtx-L recently and seems to like it. (if im not mistaken, as you may realize, im not theory, lol)
i heard alot of crap about the earlier innovate units tho.
plx and techedge are supposed to be bullet proof but pretty expensive.

I'm going to take the chance and get an innovate mtx-L, their pretty good with replacing bad units via their warranty.
