The auto is from the MPV minivan and is already rev limited because it can't handle 8000 rpm....It cannot handle high horsepower.

There are many people running well over 400 rwhp on the stock manual....

If your talking about the RX7 then the Manual is stronger. Typically Automatics are stronger. Thats why the GM Turbo 350 and Turbo 400 AT are Legendary as well as Ford C-6 AT. There is no cut and dry answer when just making a blanket statement about what type is Stronger.

The rx7.com runs 9.5 in the 1/4 mile with a stock manual trans!

Rx-7.com CAR

Stock gears:

Manual - 4.10
Auto - 3.90

Well yes the FD's auto is not only used in the MPV (w/o the adaptive electronic controls) but also in the Millenia and 929. It is the TORQUE CONVERTER that limits the AT to 7k rpm - With a COMPITION TqC (like a LEVEL 10 Rebuild) you can run 8K+ rpm redline - The AT internals are only good to about 350 rwhp though.
