strange wire into coils

anyone have any idea why a previous owner would have spliced wires into the inputs for both the trailing coils? replaced my spark plug wires and found it yesterday
EDIT: just checked, and the wires are spliced into the positive power supplies to the training coils. and them they are Y'd to a common wire that is loomed and ran behind the UIM, itdoesn't connect to anything though. just taped off at the end.

And why would you splice into the ign coil for a remote start unit? and please dont say tach signal, because like I posted above, they are spliced into the positive feed side, which always shows a positive, hence no indication of rpm.
BTW I did the stealth install of a viper 7900 on this car, and there are much easier ways to get a tach signal.
