strange turbo noise, please help!
finally, with the help of RST3GEN, i have a 10-8-10 boost pattern. however, at full boost, i hear a noise to the effect of a cricket or locust (more at a constant tone and pitch). anyone ever hear a noise similar to this? it only happens when the car is warm and under full boost. it does happen on both primary and secondary so not likely to be a bad turbo. started just recently (after switching back to seq). before i went seq my turbo pre-control and trubo control solenoid valve were both broken.
everything seems to be in working order if it werent for the noise i keep hearing. any help would be graciously appriciated.
thanks.

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be LIM gasket,if you have acces to a lift, jack the car up and see if there is any exhaust carbon build up on the bottom of the LIM.
My first did it only on boost than it got worst and you could hear it even on idling engine.
It may not be it but it's worth checking out.

hey thanks! thats a good idea. ill check there asap. i was also informed that it is possible there is an exhaust leak. that sometimes if bad enough, this will cause the noise too.

I used to have a MX6 turbo. It was on 12psi and i had the same type of noice. it only came at full boost, but the car just kept going.
I didnt like the sound of it, but i was able to hold boost and nothing broke.
If your worried, dont. If somethings wrong, wait for it to break. It will diagnose itself. Thats what i do.

BOV and CRV are ok. i did however notice the noise the other day when the car was cold. now it just seems to be getting louder when it warms up. i can now hear it between 5-10 psi so it is getting worse.
i have a shop available this evening out in marriam but i dont know for how long. i will re zip tie the CRV and BOV just in case. i will also look around on the LIM to see if there is any carbon built up. if there is anything else i should be looking at, let me know.
thanks again for all your help!!!

hey all! just figgered it out. as it turn out, the installer of the motor diddnt put all the nuts on the exhaust manifold (turbo side). it was missing 2 and there was one more loose. two nuts and some tightening later...no more noise and a whole lot less lag
thanks again for all your help!
