Strange Production Date?

I don't know why I never though anything of this before now but, why does my car show a production date of Febuary '92? I do realize that they had to of started production in '92 for the '93 models but wouldnt this seem REAL early? I even had a problem with this when I had an alarm installed becuase my wiring did not match any wiring diagrams the place had for a '93 rx7, they had to look at a diagram for a '92 rx7.

Maybe next time when I'm asked what year my car is, I'll say '92.

3rd Generations were being built as far back as December 1991.

Gets back to the American over-hype advertising of geting next years version ahead of anyone else.

The reality of the situation is that FD RX-7 production started in Nov-91 & was on Japanese streets a short time later.

Here in Australia, we got the FD in Mar-92 & thankfully it wasn't subject to the same **** advertising. Thus our 92 models where sold as a 92 model. (makes sense doesn't it)

The FD hit American streets in May-92 & wrongly advertised as a 93 model. Reality finds that over 70% of all 93 models in the USA are actually 92 models wrongly marketed.

Mine is 2/92 also, actually almost all 93 FDs in the US were made in 1992. I've seen only one with a build date in 1993 and it was from Canada, the last 5 # of the VIN was over 10000. Most US 1993 FDs were below 10000.

Actually, if you use the same **** type logic that makes all 92 models into a 93 model. That would mean your 95 model car is supposed to be a 96.......

Go figure that hey........

I remember LONG back when i was shopping for my first FD, seeing a Japanese model dated '91. That doesnt actually mean its a '90 model does it. Or, in Japan, did they stay true to the years?
