Exclamation Strange Occurrence, Need Help/Advice

As I was getting on the freeway I shifted from 2nd to 3rd @ about 6500-7000 rpm when I heard a short pfffft sound from under the hood and I noticed a cloud of smoke in my rear view mirror. The car still runs fine and there dosen't seem to be anything wrong.
In the past I had thought I saw some smoke while shifting from 2nd to 3rd but I wasn't sure.
Has anyone else experienced this? Should I be concerned?
Thanks in advance for any help or advice you may have.

If nothing has changed (your boost pattern is still the same, vacuum reading is still the same, you aren't spitting out a cloud of smoke like the old Spy Hunter game), then just enjoy the car.

That's easier said than done. It's my daily driver and I like to stay ahead of any potential problems. Maybe I'm just paranoid.

If you are going to be paranoid, you are definitely driving the wrong car. Check the things I mentioned in my first message. If they check out, relax.

My boost hasn't changed and the car still runs great. Vacuum is also still the same.
A couple of months ago I replaced all of my vacuum lines and in the process I noticed that of the two restrictor pills one was missing and the other was a home-made restrictor that the previous owner had installed. I guess he never reinstalled the stock restrictors after he removed the manual boost controller that he had in the car.
Prior to the new restrictors, the boost pattern was only 8-5-9. Now my boost pattern is 12-8-13 with the stock restrictors. On occasion at WOT the boost will creep up to around 14 or 15psi. I just want to make sure that I am not doing any damage that could be prevented.
Thanks again.
