stonger hatch lifts?
ADAM C--I have the 92-02 catalogs and the prices and PNs are all different.
It says specfically in the 99-02 book, either with or without a spoiler and has 2 different PNs for those too.

For the 92-95 models, is there a different part number for the drivers side struts? I am assuming that the wiper motor is on the passenger side for all 3rd gens, including the right hand drive models.
It really makes no sense to me that there would be 2 different strength struts for the 92-95 models. Why not just put the stronger strut in all of the cars? I can understand putting in a stronger strut later, for a much heavier wing.

Im sure they did too different ones so if you pop the hatch it doesnt come up hard and knock someone out, well meaning on the difference between spoiler and no spoiler. The 93-98 spoilers are about the same weight but the 99spec spoiler is about double weight I would say hints the stronger hatch lifts.
I replaced the struts off my 93 Mazda Rx7. With my heavy wing the old ones would not hold the hatch open, making me a sorehead. My new replacement struts keep it up and show 75 and 74 pounds force, per the bathroom scale. The old ones show 64 and 69 pounds, so they are still strong but ony suitable for a rear deck that has no wing or has a lightweight wing. A few pounds makes a lot of difference. Ouch!
